The Doha Film Institute Cinema (DFI Cinema) is all set to screen “Abdullah” which is the Emirati director, Humaid al-Suwaidi’s first feature film. The screening will take place at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Auditorium from January 26 to January 27 at 7:30 pm.

The screening of “Abdullah” is a part of the ‘Hekayat Khaleejiya’ series, which means ‘Stories from the Gulf’. The film is about Abdullah who is an Emirati boy who becomes fascinated by music when he is a young boy. His family is very conservative and he strives to keep his passion for music a secret from them because his family would not approve.

After the screening of the film which is in Arabic, the audience can ask questions which will be answered by the lead actor of “Abdullah”, Alaa’ Shaker, in a question and answer session.

The shooting of the film took place in Ajman, which is in the north of UAE, which Al-Suwaidi directed and produced with the support and assistance of his batchmates from the New York Film Academy. Al-Suwaidi studied in Abu Dhabi for the first year of his film degree program, and completed the second year in Los Angeles.

The DFI Cinema has been making a valuable contribution in diversifying screen culture in the region by providing Doha audiences creative and cultural film discoveries the whole year round.

Tickets for “Abdullah” are available for QAR.35 and student tickets for QAR.25. Students must show a valid ID to benefit from the student discount. Tickets can be bought from the MIA DFI Office or online from www.dohafilminstitute.com .
