By what do u want •
hello all,
I just want to ask about Doha British Montessori School... my daughter is at another school, and i want to explore cheaper options but don't want to loose the quality..
any advice or input would be appreciated!
The DMBS or DBS have lost all the credibility this year, defending classes with 30 pupils and over is an absolute outrage and a very clear proof that they know nothing about education but all know is about ripping money from parents pocket... my kids will go out of the now.
The principal is more interested in making business than our kids care... real group of jerks there!
Well, i think that since Jan this year the school has gone downhill, I have a couple of friends working for that school who say that some key people are the problem; they are scamming the owners of the school. The education consultant Mr Iain White is not even educationally trained, what a joke! Didn’t anyone check his credentials?
You can see his CV on linkedin.com well here is the link (http://qa.linkedin.com/pub/ian-white/14/281/343)
You can look at the business that Mr White was directing, The Enterprise Laboratory which he was a partner and director of, did not make even the £10000 and it has been dissolved.
The Learning and Business Observatory of his is another failed business. Which the profit and loss accounts can be obtained from the company house, these records are public records.
The Learning and Business Observatory only made money for 2 years of its life time.
Meanwhile his wife, Mrs Sarah White is running the primary school as the Head of Primary, her lack of knowledge and experience is unbelievable, she was previously a special needs teacher only! No wonder her management methods are questionable, apparently there is not one of the primary staff members she has not bullied and made cry! She is only kept in that position because of her husband, the many mistakes she makes are covered up by him and hidden from the owners.
Finally the head of the secondary school Miss Jenny Clarks is a primary PE teacher! She has only four years teaching experience none of which is secondary or management based! Obviously nobody checked her credentials either! Apparently she also wears short PE shorts most of the time as she is a young attractive woman who likes to show of her legs to the teenage boys. In a school with many Muslim children, that is disgusting!
The school has lost a lot of respect, as a lot of good staff have left in protest. I would not consider putting my kids in there. As I pulled mine out!
What a stupid comment, daz_m!
If lots of parents are happy with Doha British School and if they think that the school's facilities are good, what is so wrong with that? Hasn't it ever crossed your mind that not every parent in Doha can send their child to DESS or Doha College? Or are you so stupid that you do not know that DESS favours those parents who are British passportholders, so what are all the parents who are not British supposed to do? Where are they meant to send their children? Maybe you are so selfish that you have never thought about that. Haven't you heard of things called school waiting lists? I know one lady who waited for a place at DESS for TWO YEARS. As for Doha College, it is a well-known fact that there are very few primary places available because just about all of them are reserved for younger brothers or sisters of students in the senior part of the school. (I know several teachers at Doha College and they have confirmed that this is indeed the school's policy.)
I am not a teacher at Doha British School (as it now calls itself) and I have never worked there. I am currently teaching at another school in Doha. Nevertheless I have heard some very good and positive things about Doha British School and that makes me very happy. Any fair-minded person must come to the conclusion that a lot of the children who go to Doha British School are pleased to be there (and so are their parents). I also know several teachers at the school who are dedicated, hard-working professionals.
Your inaccurate and ill-informed criticisms of Doha British School, as well as your stupid assumption that only DESS and Doha College are worth considering, are insulting and offensive to both the teachers and the management of Doha British School. I am sure that many parents of children who are currently at the school will strongly disagree with your poisonous mudslinging.
Hello, i have 3 children in DMBS- in reception, year 5 and year 8. All are extremely happy. We arrived in Doha 4 years ago and tried another school that did not work out for us. DMBS was a blessing. I have met some of the best teachers i've ever come across in this school, my children are educated, nurtured and looked after in an excellent manner and all love getting up and going to school there.
My relationship with the school is also excellent as there is plenty of opportunity to communicate any worries or jubilations i might have.
The eclectic mix of nationalities is also superb and has given my children a wonderful insight into the world. It has certainly grown their perspective in many ways.
i simply could not be happier with the school and i thank my lucky stars that this school was there for me when i needed it.
We shall miss Sandra- naturally - but she leaves a staff that is open, understanding and communicative and has the best interests of the children and the parents at heart.
please do check it out- the facilities are pretty fantastic too.
Just need school dinners and i will be the happiest mum in Doha!!
I am not a blogger but I have seen this thread, and I think you should know only go for DESS and Doha College. In the passed I would have recommended DMBS too, but beware all stay away from it now!
The principal Miss Sandra did a great job and she will be missed she retires this year.

I am a parent who will be taking his children out of there this year after a friend who works there told me exactly what is going on.
Apparently Doha Montessori and British School has changed it's name to Doha British School because the staff had nick named it, Dodgy Management Bully Staff, so the management wanted to take their name out!
Yes, just wanted to add that my experience so far is positive. I have 2 boys in years 1 and 6, they both love their teachers, are motivated and have nice friends there. I agree with previous posts - the best way to find out is to look around the school.
Kids from my next door neighbor goes to DMBS. According to my neighbor, they are very pleased with the school. Kids cannot wait to go to school everyday. You can always find good teachers in any school or having a bad teacher in a top school. Would recommend you to visit the school in person. According to my neighbor, the only thing lacking from DMBS could only be the after school activities for the age group under 6.
Well my kids are both at DMBS and I have no complaints whatsoever.. My Year 10 is working hard and being helped and encouraged to do some IGCSE's early ..... lots of rumours about teachers leaving, but not experienced any of this the teachers who taught my kids there 3 years ago are still there. There always seems to be someone with a bad experience at all schools in Doha...... my kids are happy and so am I
DBMS was my Computer engineering paper :P. It was tough for me to pass that :-/
Database management system
There are better schools - people are trying to move their kids out of this school
Go to this website of the Supreme Education Council. They have Report Cards for every school.
