As many people have said already, the actual embracing of Islam is a quick and simple process of reciting the 'Shahada'.

However, in order to fully understand the rights and responsibilities of Islam, I do strongly recommend that your fiance reads The Quran. THere are many English ( and other language ) translations around, and available online for free. Only once The Quran has been read, will one begin to understand what the religion actually means. Those of us who believe, accept The Quran as the final word of GOD, infallible and complete.

May you both be blessed.

The process of conversion is quite simple and easy, and does not take longer than a minute.

One recites the 'Shahadah' (i.e. There is no deity/god except Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger), preferably in Arabic and in front of two Muslim (male) witnesses. Thereafter, they become a Muslim and acknowledged as such by the Muslim community. Legal procedures, however, could take longer and may require changes in official documents including a change of name, if applicable.

One finale note: Anyone who wishes to convert to Islam must know (,learn, or be advised of) his obligations and rights as a Muslim, or at least the most fundamental ones. There are some cases of people reciting the 'Shahadah' required to enter Islam, but not observing even the fundamentals.

If you have gone through the principles and message of islam. If someone has introduced you to these in the proper manner and context. If now you believe in the religion, its as simple as proclaiming your ‘belief in the one true god and his messenger’.

I suggest you approach the Fanar Islamic Center near souk waqif. They would be able to guide you in the best way and answer any questions you have. Feel free to contact me if you need assistance. May god bless you with the truth.

Good to know that you are converting to Islam...

FANAR, The Islamic Centre in Irani markete (a mosque with tall circular minarete) is the BEST place. You can go there and talk to people.

It takes only 5 minutes to read KALIMA but I suggest you clear your mind before reading KALIMA.

Welcome to ISLAM.
