Come on...get a life

Hey people,

So the story goes like this: I'm leaving Souq waqif's parking..friday night...with my wife and mother.
There is a big line of cars waiting to pay the bloody
parking fee. Not to my surprise, a lot of morons try to be smart and instead of making the line...they would drive on our side trying to save those glorious 20 seconds time..being a pain in the neck by trying to squeeze in between you and the car that goes in front of you.
when it was my turn to deal with this SHugar i didn't let
the guy pass through, and i was successful doing it.
The guy was mad of course...but he was being disrespectful
to all of us who had been in the line for a few minutes
and he completed his profile by yelling and shouting!!
Wow...i said to my self ''you have to be joking''..shame on you man...not only you are getting on everyone's nerves, but now you are complaining as if all of us where wrong!
Ok...not the first time we see this happening...but...next thing i know...the guy jumps out of his car and comes over to accuse me of touching
his car and making damage with mines>>???
Me and the ones who where with me in my car...did not
notice any any noise nor anything close to a touch..
so i didn't even bother..and told him he was wrong...and left...
Then, just to make sure..i checked my car...Immaculate

So...to conclude...yesterday i went to renew the istimara
or whatever the name is..of my car...and guess what?
I couldn't because apparently i had an accident or someone reported me...so i was asked to go to Mamoura traffic Dep...to solve that thing...and come back...

Get a life! what a loser...anyone with a similar story?
can't you just call the police and tell them this is
Bsh#t?

Have a good one/

ohhhhh!!!,, i see, that's why you lose your pride and dignity because you have a boss or sir above you, but please let me know if you are the king here pretending to be daniel to make me believe that you never call somebody boss or sir.

By ex.ex.expat• 29 Jan 2011 00:47

I don't call a Qatari boss, mate :)

BTW, So what if I am british? Your profile says you are Qatari but clearly you are not. Hiding your REAL nationality, Daniel? lol

By rainjohan• 28 Jan 2011 12:38
rainjohan

what do you want us to do daniel? it is okey for you if they want you to kiss their dirty shoes to remind you that this is their country? okey go ahead, nobody will stop you doing that, but for me, i'm not here to be treated as a slave. I'm here to earn money with dignity.

if you don't put value to yourself then who else will???

Thank you Fathimah.... it just seem to make them realise that their behaviour isn't correct, for some reason... and by them, I mean anyone who causes havoc on the road...

Not to say, I don't have the odd temper tantrum behind the wheel, too;-P

First, I wasn’t referring to the OP at all. In fact , I haven’t even read it. By Default, I would assume that a local is involved in a road rage incident. I have to admit that most Reckless driving people encounter at the road is in way or another by a local.

My post was directed to the Mods, Since they started this new policy of banning whoever bashes a nationality and in fact took an action by banning a user I truly enjoyed her posts (i.e. “Isobel” )

I read what you wrote and I think it is quite clear. If you think I am wrong then don't worry. I call it like I see it :)

Arrogant drivers, road rage, and misuse of power can happen anywhere and I'm sure most of us here have our stories to tell of how we faced and dealt with douche bags on the road ..question is how can it be stopped and what can we do. Be a part of the solution!

I do love Xena and Britexpat's methods..as a temporary measure it sure rocks =)

By one_shot• 26 Jan 2011 11:38
one_shot

are you playing with me?

or it is very difficult for you read what i am writing.

why you are assuming..why you are suspecting???

if you think that you are really debating then you are wrong because it seems that you imagine things i said and consider it as facts then attack depends on these things.

.

By ex.ex.expat• 26 Jan 2011 11:19
ex.ex.expat

I suspect you do consider yourself about NON-muslims and NON-Arabs based on what you have written, and yet are upset with Khaleeji Arabs for seeing themselves as above Levant Arabs. Can you see the irony?

And btw, I know some British and American muslim converts who seem to have the privilege to understand Islam quite well, even though they are not Arabs. Just saying.

By one_shot• 26 Jan 2011 11:14
one_shot

wait man

i think you got me wrong

1)family line is arabs issue ,maybe you wont understand it.

even though we are been considered from GCC people as not arabs.

2)"we consider ourselves as real muslims"it was a sarcastic statement since islam started in the arab and Quran is arabic language so we have the privilege to understand it better....that is all.

i am not arrogant and i don't claim to be ....not above arabs or muslims.

i am a man full with mistakes, and maybe when you meet me you will discover that.

not perfect and don't claim to be.

and here we share ideas and what i said to Genesis was my personal opinion.

By ex.ex.expat• 26 Jan 2011 11:01
ex.ex.expat

or your religion or family line? You think that means you are better than anybody else? You think that means Qataris or the rest of us should place you above us?

And what makes you think like this: "we consider ourselves as the real muslims"?

Doesn't GOD ALONE decide that?

Maybe the problems Syrians face come from their own arrogance and desire to place themselves above non-Arabs and non-muslims. Maybe God is teaching you a lesson.

By ex.ex.expat• 26 Jan 2011 10:55
ex.ex.expat

and calling for expatgeezer to be banned, I do think that his main point here to be considered is the fact that many Qataris cannot accept criticism and are calling for qatarliving to be blocked. Right or wrong, he is warning us about the potential backlash and need I remind anyone that Qatar is not a free country and the repercussions upon expats can be harsh and swift.

Take it for what it is: a warning.

By one_shot• 26 Jan 2011 10:23

Shutting his mouth here is not the solution.

that is why i told you to understand why he is saying this then correct it.

because if you stop him here ..he will go another place with more rage this time carrying with him the wring idea about arabs or muslims.

but if you negotiate with him in logic and let his mind think and understand the reality of your good heart and manner , i think it is better.

By one_shot• 26 Jan 2011 10:20

i wonder how you got angry when they bash arabs at the same time your personal look to other arabs is not good

this syrian ...this Egyptian...this algerian...

i had to face it with some GCC people here and in saudi arabia.

even though not forgetting the fact that i am arabian and maybe more than them.

my family tree is saved and certified for more than 15 centuries, with the origin from Najd.

but i am for you a foreigner and for most of arabs in GCC.

we are arabs had bad and good history, a man preferred to die to save his friend "alnomairi"from dieing thirsty , and two tribes fought for a camel for more than 40 years.

Islam came to correct our mistakes and power our good manners, but when Islam bashing start, why i can't see your angry mode there?

why the pakistanis and indians and some muslims westerners are the first people who got angry for this while we consider ourselves as the real muslims.

i am finding this confusing.really

can you answer me ...why i can't see your angry mode when they bash ISLAM?

thanks

If exposing a few rude locals and praising a few good one is bashing. Please do go ahead and have me banned. I am here by my choice and will leave by my choice.

Again if I must quote a verse from your Quran that a good Qatari friend and colleague of mine was trying to explain to me one day "Try to stop bad my Hand, if you cant then at least by your words and if you cant then atleast by your thought"

tell the police about the story and specify his outer shape, let them report his proclamation as lie and hence u need to take the legal actions

If this quote " it takes ages to transfer from a camel riding bedouin ...." is not bashing, than what is?

As per QL "so called" new regulation , bashing is not tolerated. Thus, I request the mods to have this troll banned

You must understand, QL have become the most hated site among locals .

It has gained a reputation of a Qataris bashing forum. Many local bloggers and Internet goers on other local forums have in fact sent to QTEL to have QL censored in Qatar

Do you people really want this?

Do you see many Qataris post here any more ?

Why increase the tension ? Discuss the behavior of the driver not his nationality.

And enough with that camel jokes. It's not even funny. Plus we don't get offended by our heritage. Don't you people see us celebrate it annually

One evening outside FFC, I stopped and was waiting to get into a parking spot, when this LC comes up honking behind me. After he notices my indicator, he drives up to my side and gestures like, "wtf are you waiting for"? to which I gesture back, "if you looked you would see my indicator and you could have moved ahead from the side".

He gets out of the car, comes up to me and says, "You know I am Qatari?" I calmly reply, "Excuse me, but I didn't get the memo on that one, btw do you know I'm Indian?"

He laughed, shook hands with me and left... :-D

I thought I saw two guys on the kerb capturing the whole thing on their blackberries. If you are reading this, please post the pics.

i was almost hit a landcruiser for this reason on salwa road, but he loose , my old car worth 10,000 only and if i hit him he will loose .

i just was afraid that he could be one of the "guys"

and take my plate number and u know the rest(even if it is my right).

but i still remember his face and his moving mouth from away, when he parked his car aside.with a very red FACE.

What are you gonna do - sure it pi++es us ALL off - arrogance and ignorance on the road and in general actually is something that is to be tolerated unfortunately - my view is that perpetrators of ignorance, whether it be on the road or in the mall, are more to be pitied than scorned. Im a great believer in "what goes around comes around" and I know that one day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, that that twat who aggressively cut me up or through his/her inability to pilot their car in a sensible and courteous manner almost cause me to have an accident thus putting at risk me and my family is going to get theirs..... anybody see the 2 written off Land Cruisers with the windows covered over, on the side of the Mesaieed road over the weekend?? god is very quick these days ......

I never used to think I would see road rage here. Foolish driving, yes. But not road rage. I have had several confrontations with drivers in the past year where they took things too far in my opinion (chasing me, shouting, making obscene gestures) and surprisingly a few times It was with locals who had their families in the car. Each time, they were trying to do something similar to what you described and were clearly in the wrong. It's not only locals, of course. There is enough hot headed driving to represent every nationality, but I do think most expats are somewhat concerned about not getting kicked out so tone down their actions.

By anonymous• 25 Jan 2011 09:45
anonymous

I feel you mate! It's really a pity hearing these kind of tragedy. And the worst part is WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING about it if they complain about some Expats...

Probably the best thing you can do for this situation is to prove to the police that there really has no accident that happened. Perhaps show them there has been no damage to your car and if there was damage on the complainant's car then u just prove to them it was not you who caused probably check the paint or scratches or what not..

good luck!

Then a wise man said to me "why take it personaly .. They are doing it to everyone. Not just you"

Now I just chill. Call them a few names quietly and just go about my own business.
