Children of Singaporeans & Malaysians

Hi There,
A question relating to kids schooling. I am working in Singapore and will be relocating to Doha soon. My wife and kids are Malaysians but I am from India and we all are Singapore Permanent Residents.
My only concern would be my kids education. How do parents are handling this issue who migrate from Singapore / Malaysia, where do they send their kids to study. I mean the education structure when compare with Singapore / Malaysia may not be the same in Doha, so how does one addressess this important issue when they relocate to Doha.
Can some parents who have been migrated from Spore / Msia can share some input about the education or the schooling available in Doha and where do they send there kids to study and what will be the fee structure as well.
Regards
Khan
Hi Khan,
I'm Malaysian married to an Australian. We have 2 children, our 6yrs old will be starting in DESS in sept and 4yrs is in Compass. Securing a place is hard but not impossible. I strongly advice you to start now. DESS was our 1st choice and we didn't get a place for my daughter till now so she spent a term in Compass. Still waiting for a spot in DESS for my son. Having said that, we're happy with Compass and would have gladly kept my daughter there but felt that DESS has a lot more to offer in terms of extra-curricular activities and facilities.
As expatriates, moving from one country to another, we find it easier to stick to one system. Our choice is the British/IB curriculum. The children get some sense of familiarity whenever we move. I can't really comment on the standard of education in Malaysia and Singapore as I have no experience in that matter. I believe in a well-rounded approach to education, not just an academically-focused one, and I'm happy to see that my children are receiving that in school.
Khan,
You can send your kids to any International Schools here. The fee structure, you can contact the relevant schools for details.
In my case, when I compare the syllabus at International schools here with Malaysian schools, I find out the Malaysian syllabus is more advanced by one year. Not sure about Singapore though.
The critical problem in Doha now is to secure place at the International schools. I have a Singaporean friend whom recently quit from his job here since he can't find a place for his children for the past 10 months.
the school here either english curriculum, american curriculum, indian school or IB system.
I lived in Singapore for 2 yrs before we came here, but at that time we had no kid.
Some singaporean friend i know sending their kids to DESS or Doha College Primary.
