For those parents who were ask to claim their child's birth certificate at the CID, they have a new place along Salwa going to Abu Samra/Ar Rayyan.

For the curious: If the wife is not under the husband's sponsorship & just had a baby born here in Qatar. Although you will apply for the birth cert in Hamad Hospital, you have to claim it at CID.

No, I don't think so. My friends already gave me a heads up before I applied for my son's birth cert a couple of weeks back. This is only applicable for couples who have different sponsors.

If your wife is under your sponsorship then you will indeed claim your baby's birth cert in Hamad, otherwise, you have to claim it at the CID.

What surprised me was the new CID location! hehehe!!! Oh, and forgot to mention the looooonnngggg waiting inside the Hamad birth registration office.

Thanks for sharing your experience dude!

I find that the idea that you have to claim from CID very odd

my wife is not under my sponsorship and we had our baby may 2010, we went back and forth between the ministry and hamad, but we got the birth certificate in hamad.

must be a new procedure then and no doubt they are suspicious of those not under the husbands sponsorship.
