bday candles

Hi QL i might sound silly but just wanna confirm how many candles to be blown out on bday .. the years we have completed or the year we are entering into .. may be its confusing .. lemme put this way ...
if born on 2005 march ... how many candles should be blown on 2009 march ... 4 or 5?
i personally think it should be 4 ... but people around r confusing me ... any help ...

5. The first candle is on the day of your birth. 2 candles after you completed 1 year. That's when you celebrate your birthday the second time!
