Barwa City - how is the location?
Hello guys,
I'm moving to Qatar this summer and in the process of sorting out schools for my girls.. it seems the only school still accepting applications is the new Newton school in Barwa City --- but it seems from the location map to be in the middle of nowhere -- is any one familiar with the area? How is it for a family with young kids (8/5)? Are there compounds, shopping facilities etc.. ?
Could you also recommend other good British curriculum schools.. I've contacted DBS, Compass, DESS - and it seems almost impossible to get my girls in those schools :( Any otehr recommendations? I would consider a PYP school as well.
Many thanks,
I hope so Molten Metal. :)
Noma, You 'll love it more than your present location .....

Thanks for your information Brin, it really puts me at ease and it's true - my children currently attend a school that has had so many problems but their teachers were great - so that made up for many things. One thing that I haven't noticed in the school website is a swimming pool.. does the school have one? Also when does your Spring (Easter) break start? Sorry for all the questions...
And yes it may seem like the middle of nowhere but its very easys to get everywhere.
Hi there. We have our children in Newton at Barwa. We love the school. This is the first year in the new area at Barwa and was previously on D Ring and this is much better. We live on Al Waab and the traffic there and back is much easier. A couple of friends live in Barwa City and they have really enjoyed living there and also having the kids so close for school. School is great and interactive. But it will always depend on the teachers. One branch of the school is good but then I heard West Bay was a disaster. Good luck!
