OMG! Ukeng, it is not an acceptable practice in Philippines for most of the decent families in my country. It is like killing my parents if I do the same.
mariecor, All I met are single moms whom had kids outside of wedlock which I assume is an acceptable practice in the Philippines, Their kids are been taken care of by their parents!
Ukeng, you are absolutely right! But most are not single mum, as ismaelerum commented. Those Filipina mums, whose kids and husband are not here with them, cant afford their families to bring them here....i mean, there in Qatar. Im in Dubai right now.
ismaelerum, how many of those single mom Filipinas you met? Can you give me the exact number? Where the hell you got that fact? You're comment is too specific...you have to be careful with your words.
Only one nationality singled out by you ismailerum, don't any other nationalities have single mums? Is there a point you are trying to make with your statement?
Probably the only single Moms are Qatari that have been divorced by their husbands or whos husbands have passed away. There may be the occasional non Qatari Arab single for the same reason but most of those will probably have left the country.
The government will only assist nationals and they probably receive assitance with rent.
I leave it to one of the Qataris to correct me if required.

I guess these laws are real tough and not easy to bend like in other places. But real good for the people who really follow.
Thanks for the info. Are you Qatari? Are you enjoying "this desert hell" anymore now that you have been back a while?
One other question. In the case of divorce, does the mother automatically get custody of the children?
