Anyone delivered a baby in Doha?

Can anyone recommend a good Obestrician or Gynecologist in Doha?

Someone who knows his stuff from a medical point of view, but also treats the mother to be like a person and not a number.

Thanks.

I gave birth at Women's hospital as well but previous to that I have been going private consultation at the American hospital. Since I was having complications in my pregnancy, I asked my doc at the American Hospital what their protocols are in case something goes wrong with the baby or me during the delivery time. He said that they will transfer me and my baby to the Women's Hospital. Right there and then my husband and myself decided to give birth at the HMC. I gave birth to a lovely 3.7kg baby girl thru c-section..she's now 1 year and 4 months old...BAck to the topic, I am happy with Women's Hospital. Private room will cost QR800/day.

hi asian, i had both my babies in Hamad and was very happy with hamad. i am one of those people who didnt want anyone present with me during my delivery other than the hospital staff, so it was cool for me.

my second baby had to have consultants check her out immediately after birth and i felt hamad was very good and quick at looking into details and referring to the right consultants.

but then again some people have very good experiences and some have very bad, its all about time. btw, i am a hamad baby too.

for a private hospital, yup, dr. rizvi is highly recommended, if you can afford to have the delivery done at al-ahli or you are covered by health insurance.

happy heart

i'd like to get an honest to goodness opinion. my wife is on her 6th month now. one of our friends here gave birth last year and they had a good experience with women's hospital...so we decided to deliver here instead of going back to our country...besides, doctors now might not give her certification to travel on the airplane!

of course, like everyone else, they want the safety of the mother and the baby. we were considering that factors and their comfort.

please help us...

we thought about going home too but it is too difficult.

dr rizvi and dr amal are both good. we are seeing both for now. never hurts to get second opinions.

congrats to you and your wife

Thank you for your comments. I to have recently done a home test and have found out I am pregnant! I have thought of going back home to deliver the baby, but then that just becomes a logistical night mare. It seems like there are heaps of good experiences here. THank you for the reassurance.

This will be my first and only....

Hi Withnail

Please send me a PM at [email protected]. I want to refer you to a friend who had serious complications with the birth of his daughter & he may possibly provide you with some vital pointers.

She does deliveries in Doha Clinic. She is one of the few doctors in Doha that does prenatal care as well as delivery. I went to her with my first baby (she was in Dubai overnight the day she was born, so Dr. Maha the main OB at DC actually did the delivery, but it was ok). I'm going again to Dr. Badi with my second (due in December)...

She works well with westerners who do strange things like prepare "birth plans" and have opinions on what they want their pregnancy and birth experience to be like. :) Then again, the services in Qatar are fairly basic, so you cannot expect to find anyone who can do stuff like a home birth, water birth, etc... But you'll get a decent basic hospital delivery. My friend raves about her c-sections in case you need one.

I take my daughter to Al Ahli for her pediatrician though, and I will switch to there with my second as soon as I can. I will only tolerate the pediatricians at Doha Clinic as long as I have to (such as in the day or 2 after birth).

Dr. Rizvi and her staff at Al Ahli are awesome. Had a baby with her last September. Loads of expat women use her. Just a great experience all around.

There is this male Gyne Dr name Dr. Ilyas, i guess he is in Khor Hospital these. He is the worst Dr. i know someone who had a terrible experience with him. He claims that he doesn't have any competition in whole Qatar actually he is nothing but a big show off

Dra. Amal, is one of the best Gyne in Doha. I highly recommend her service. Though lil expensive but worth it.

Dr.Amal Badi always have a good reputation amongs mum in Doha. I did not deliver through her ... but everyone i know who delivered the baby recently with her are really happy.

Her practice is opposite the Toys R Us across the C ring road.

Unfortunately i dont have her number.

Good luck with the delivery.
