AL AHLI HOSPITAL - Any Recommendations?

QHell

Can anyone recommend any General Medical Service provider at Al Ahli Hospital? Share of a personal experience?

Do they have any Women focused service? Any lady doctor that speaks clear/ fluent English?

Do they have full coverage for Al-Koot insurance? Any experience with insurance?

Thanks for all your help.

I will not recommend this hospital. The staff just focus on money, not patients!

I don't recommend the hospital, the personnel is not well qualified. After waiting for more than 1 hour, they said that the doctor will have a delay of more than 2 hours. 0 information etc... Try another one.

for gyne departement Al Ahli hospital is worst. I personally faced horrible experience with them on march 2014. My wife was in serious condition..about to miscarriage. We wait 3 hours to visit doctor. After that doc says need to admit hospital. After 2 hours they said there is no room to admit. It is God that just help us out on this situation. Then I visited Doha hospital. From there doc says no need for medical admission, just be in home all will be fine.

Gyne doctors in Al Ahli is stupid. I visited two lady doctors (indian). I just don't want to mention there name right now. Can anybody tell me is there any medical governing body in Qatar where I can report on there poor management as well the Doctor knowledge.

Ahli Hospital is an hotel more than a hospital. The Medical team is not good.

Avoid this hospital if you can. Its support staff (desk clerks and nurses) are terribly unskilled. They often do not know their job and tasks. They often lose papers handed by the doctors. They do not know how to speak with the patients. Do not be amused with its interior decorations and nice building. One Indian doctor keeps talking with their friends over the phone minutes after minutes while the patient is already in his room. The cardiology department is the worst one. Its 95% doctors are from a particular country. They do not know how to behave with their patients. Worst!

If you don't mind waiting for about an hour and a half for each appointment, it's an okay hospital.

Some of the staff are excellent.

Obs and Gyn - it's a bit small, e.g., you will share a room with another pregnant woman when having an ECG scan (regular check up) and you will always wait about an hour or more once you arrive on time for your appointment.

There are other private hospitals opening up so hopefully some competition will help improve the levels of service at Al Ahli, it needs it.

Its exactly the same as Hamad hospital regarding inefficiencies, mistakes and disorganization, except you pay high prices. Only difference is the environment is a bit nicer with less people. If you have insurance its probably worthwhile to be in a nice environment, if you are paying yourself, better think twice to avoid disappointment.

If you get the right dr. at Al-Ahli its a good experience not all are good and now everyone is saying you have to wait too long to see drs, just like going to Hamad but you pay.

If you just want to visit a general practitioner then you could try Dr Pamela at Al Ahli.  She is Scottish and is very approachable and knows her stuff.  I took my daughter to her as she had a serious urine infection, the treatment she received was second to none and she was referred to a great Urologist at Al Ahli as well.  You dont need a referral to see Dr pamela just phone Al Ahli hospital and go through to the appointments section (sometimes it diverts to voicemail but go back to the Operator and they will transfer you direct to the appointments desk)  Hope this helps.   know from experience what a nightmare it can be finding a really good GP out here.

Apollo Clinic (Coz we've been handling them since last year) and Al Rafa i think are the primary health care providers. Al Ahli as of this moment has not been tagged as a primary health care partner.

You better go through the terms &condition manual provided by  your insurance company as it varies company to company.

Thanks all for your feedback. AXA and Al-Koot is the same. But what I am not clear about is Primary Network. Can someone explain? Do I need to go to another hospital before I go to Al-Ahli.

Al-Ahli is very close to our house and I was thinking of find a good GP (primary care giver) in Al Ahli for my family. This seems to be not possible with AXA - true ?!?

I delivered my second baby in Al Ahli. Services are fantastic except when if you are in Normal delivery  you cannot choose the OB GYNE. Whoever is in duty will attend to the patient. It is very difficult to get an appointment in the same DR from first month until delivery.

I think Dr. Sujatha is still there (Gynecologist), she's ok and communicates very well. You need to go thru primary network as speed says (i.e. apollo clinic where i work hahaha and tell to dr. sujatha uv been referred by lowel) to secure a referral.

Anyway, Al Ahli is an excellent hospital (nice interior and facilites-just wasn't fortunate enough to join their lab team, sgh!) with fairly reasonable price (for most western expats that is!).

Stay healthy!

If you are looking for a Gynecologist then Dr. Rizwi is the best, she speaks good English. Its difficult to get her appointment. I am not sure about Alkoot insurance.... we get full coverage for AXA insurance.

Excellent hospital ! What are you looking for exactly.... Al Koot is on referral basis not direct. Referral should come thru primary network ..

But we have taken our son there before and found it to be fantastic. Its run by Aus Health International (Australia) and  all the doctors we have met speak very good english and give very good care. As for insurance I am not sure but the are one of the more expensive alternatives around.
