Some advice required if possible...

My son is 13months old and he has just started to bite everything and anything, am not so bothered about the things he bites, its when he bites me or his dad-as u can imagine it hurts..!

Any suggestions/advice how to get him out of this habit?

Thanks

Alexa is right. It could be teething problems. They have a very strong urge to bite anything.

Also don't make a big fuss out of children doing these things. They will think it is fun and will do it again and again. Just ignore it and things will change quickly. You don't have to spank a 13-month-old child to change it's behaviour.

Seriously now, I don't think biting back is the remedy as the child associates you with pain as they don't realise that when they are biting they are inflicting pain...if you get what I mean....and they will learn that they have to retaliate with pain....I agree with the crying bit, try crying and looking upset with a firm No Naughty No Biting!

germs.   biting spreads bacteria & can cause infection.    I know it sounds reasonable to bite back, but really all you are doing is using violence to stop violence and that has always worked in the history of the world (ya right!)    When my children bit,  I grabbed them hard, not to hurt them, looked them firmly in the face, shouted no and then isolated them from everyone (also known as time out)         Rest assured biting is a phase almost ALL children go through--some longer than others---and they will learn/grow out of it.

All children do this and unfortunately it hurts. They have to go thru this process, it is part of the learning cycle! Unfortunately they do not know that it hurts. What I did was bite my daughter back. But I bit her in her neck, in the back. It worked. She stopped immediately. Try it. Hope it works for you.

We had a problem with our daughter biting to the point her teeth marks the whole mouth were on my son.  The Pediatrician told us to let him bite her back and sure enough it only takes once and they learn.  Same with manipulation she would throw up in her bed to get out and I would take her out and clean the bed the dr. told me to leave her in it one night and she won't do it again, it worked as well.  Sounds harsh but people bites are dangerous.

Thanks again..

Your baby is bitting you because he has no clue that it hurts. At

that age they have no clue. They do know what

crying is and what it means. My advice to you is cry..right away! They have to see the cause and effect. They bite, you

cry or wail if it's a big problem. Also, have a mind of child and let

him know you don't want to play now because that hurt so much. Good

luck

yes you can always spank the little brat when he bites u..its like rubbing a dogs nose in his own sh*t when the dog sh*ts in the house...or wait was it that u beat the dog with a paper stick...oh well u know what i mean "spare the rod and spoil the brat"
