I am a student and i am very very bugged by the fact that i have to wait for my licence another 2 months :X i hate it.. in some countries guys gets there driving licence as soon as they are 16 or 17 for example in Saudi Arabia my cousins live there and i asked them about there they said if you are a student you don't even need a licence to drive if someone asks you just say that you are a student and no one even would bother to ask .. thats what i call something :p

i know most of you are adults and don't care about this fact i guess but i don't like asking my friends to drive me around and specially when i need them and everyone disappears :P once i went to Cornish in taxi and i came back 4 o clock in the morning because i didn't have any one to drive me home and there was also no taxi i could find thanks to the shi**y service of Karwa.. i just wanted to express my feeling towards this thing i really think the government should look upon this matter as my brother he is 12 years old and he can drive a car like a professional :O

what do you guys think??no rude comments please

yess i agree that they have accidents but who said you walk the second you come into the world you have to fall before you can walk before you can run there are steps you just cant expect someone to just turn 100 years old and start a car and go on driving like a professional i agree with you guys that there are many accidents in teenagers but thats because most of them are new to driving that is why i don't agree because of texting or using a cellphone or anything even adults do that

adults think some things they can do teenagers cant do but thats wrong..

Oh, and yes, governments (and parents and teachers and whoever else you have decided are making your life "difficult") worldwide sit around and come up with ideas and ways to make all kids (substitute group of choice for kids) "suffer"

Dream on - I for one have better things to do (like laundry)

I realize that a number (age) does not confer maturity. However, legally, it does in many countries including Qatar to hold people responsible for their actions, including driving habits.

The majority of 16-18 drivers have an accident within the first year of driving. That halves if drivers wait until they are 21. That is why people must wait until they are 18. In countries with private insurance markets, under 21s play grossly higher rates for this reason. Some countries increasingly are considering raising it to 21 before no restrictions are placed on the licenses (restrictions include no more than one person in the car, no driving after nightfall, etc), so you are lucky.

World wide statistics say that the age group with the most accidents are teenagers. Google it. They have not had enough life experience and maturity to handle certain situations while driving. This is why they wait until they are at a minimum 16-17 to be allowed to drive without adult supervision. Texting, talking on the phone, music, talking to their friends in the car all contribute to the reasons.

It's not only for your safety, it's for everyone else's safety as well. Typically you don't see full grown adults doing donuts on the roads, you see teenagers doing it.

you will realize why when you will turn 21. 12 years old professional driver is just like a doctor doing operation looking to his father. its about life...not about fun my dear...so take a chill pill and wait for two months.

A car is a lethal weapon and as such, needs to be treated with great respect. That is something that doesn't happen much over here and an 18 year old is very likely to be influenced by other drivers and become aggressive and therefore, dangerous,no matter how determined you are at the moment, that you wouldn't be. The most serious accidents are, sadly, caused by young drivers, both in this country, and in many others too. So,for the few who are genuinely good drivers, you are tarred with the same brush as those lunatics who see driving as a sport. Sorry, but that's the fact of the matter.

I agree with the law.. Not to allow my children and my brothers and sisters to drive without reaching their 18th bday... The point of parenting is like that.

I understand your feeling but not everything in the world is on what we want. There are rules of parents that we need to obey as there are government rules that we need to obey to be a good child and a good citizen.

Time will come..that you yourself will have children, then you will understand what i am saying. When you have children then its up to you if you will let him/her drive...

The above view is my views, as more than 18 years old and as a parent. :)

I think only those who can win the NFS race should be allowed to drive.

@unbelieveable

not all the people are the same some people like to drive quietly and even some adults over 18's cannot control their temper or emotions there isnt much diference between 16 17 and 18 ?? they all have teen at the end? the government just wants to make the kids suffer for everything :P only the adults have the luxuries

but still driving shouldnt be linked with entering a contract legally :O people dosent get mature only when they get 18 everyone knows that it should be at least 16 or 17

even in our country origin is like that. minors or below 18 can't drive...as we care about PG or Parental Guidance. and also teenager can not control their emotion and temper especially in the road.

Anyway, some rules are implemented for the safetyness of public. soon you will have your permit to drive and you can experiennce these minor drivers.

Goodluck to you :)

Probably because until a person is 18 here they cannot enter into contracts legally. I'm not sure how the courts look at minors who are involved in mature activities (like driving) and have accidents - but it may be a factor in deciding the age minimum

yeah i know not a problem for me whatever i do i still gave to wait :P but other people aged 16 17 are desperately waiting for it and some also need it but the government won't care as long as the rules are applied to the middle class people

i see some qatari's driving around like crazy with cars like Land cruisers and GMC's and guess there ages not more than 14 for example one kid lives in our neighbourhood drives his land cruiser and is not more than 15 i know him whats the difference between us and them?? why the rules only for us?

You've waited this long - so another two months is not a big deal..

As for your brother .. Hope he doesn't drive on the roads :O)
