Which is better Cannon Rebel XSi 12.2 or Sony A350 14.4?

Hi,
I am a good photographer with a digicam and now plan to buy a DSLR cam.

Which one should i go for i am really confused.

Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2

Sony Alpha A350

Note: I am just stepping into the DSLR.

If possible anyone can put up the price of both here in qatar. Online the canon is cheaper.
