I/O error means either your reading device or the DVD/CD itself had problem just check it to other PC/Laptop if its reading then the problem is your DVD ROM if its not then its your DVD/CD discs
I/O error usually occurs if you have problem with hardware devices. For the mean time, what Operating System are you using? Windows XP or Vista?
Input/Output (I/O) Error. In your case, your laptop cannot read the files from your CD/DVD. Check that your CD's are clean. Second, check that the cables between the hard disk and cd/dvd writer are secured. If your CD/DVD works on another laptop, then the error must be on the drive itself.
You might see this message when the DVD writer is not connected properly. Open the computer case and check the connections to the DVD writer from the motherboard. You also might want to check if jumpers are set properly. If the writer is the only device on the flat ribbon cable, set the jumper to "Master". If nothing works, buy a new writer.
