I want to buy a playstation for my little kid, but I am confused by the slim and fat notion? is there any difference between the two? and which is better?
also is the memory card necessary for playing?
it wasnt three years ago how about 9 years ago...any way thers no difernce only fat and slim i think the slim comes in september ..thers a built in hard drive from 40gb to 120gb..
Sony Play station was launched three years (approx) ago in fat form factor. What it means that it was bulky and heavy. Very recently Sony have re-launched the same platform but now in a much slimmer form factor.
They both more or less do the same thing. However, I would presume that from this point onwards fat version will phase out.
To make it attractive for the buyers, sony has thrown in few extra bits and pieces which dont really make a lot of difference.
As far as modifications are concerned to the box, (which are illegal BTW), you are more likely to get the old version modified than newer version as people will still be trying to figure out how to do it.
Bottom line. Get you child the slim one if it is available in Qatar and you don't mind spending few extra bucks.
well not sure about the fat one or slim one...but try to get one which can play original and pirated cds both. or if u buy new one they can modify for u for this thing.
secondly memory card is needed for resuming the game. if you dont have it..all games would be restarted from first stage. if you have it, you may save the game and next time u can start from where u left it.

the slim one gets overheated faster the fat owned gets overgeated slower than the slim one
