Hi all,
I plan to take one LCD TV to india along with me(as luggage)what would the duty be there to pay there?Anybody has the previous experience?pls share,if so.thanks all
I took a Sony LCD 32" last year (September 09). 32" is the maximum size that we can take as luggage. Tell them that you have a TV with you in luggage while checking in. They will put a separate tag on it and will take care of that.
In Kochi Airport I paid Indian Rupees 362.00 (Three hundred and sixty two only) as duty. Can you believe that? We can take electronic items of Rs. 25000.00 free of duty. They will charge only for the additional amount. That is, if your TV costs 30,000 indian rupees, they will charge duty for 5000.00 only. Its about 30% of the additional amount I think. Make sure that you keep the original bill with you.
as per indian customs limit, it is allowed to carry any goods like electronics below Rs. 25000/- . If the amount of ur lcd is less than 25k inr.. just carry the receipt with you..
as usuall, indian customs will make an issue. blah blah.. just pay around 2000rs maxxxx..
