Can I use South African plugs in Qatar?

By paulfreathy •
I'm moving over and have NO idea what kind of plug or adapter I should bring with me.
The one web site says Indian and the other says British, then yet another say 2 pin plugs work there! I am confused!
Any suggestions welcome! Thanks
Thanks Juan, just the answer I was looking for!
Hope we can meet up over there!
Regards
Paul
Paul, we are from South Africa too.
The S.A. plug pins will not fit into the Qatar sockets. The plug sockets here are the same as in the UK.
What we have done is this - get a multi adapter from South Africa - the one with 4 or 5 multiplugs on a lead, all you do is replace the plug on the lead to a Qatari one and plug your current S.A. plugs into the S.A. adapter.
Two pin plugs work the same as over here.
Voltage is the same as in South Africa - so no worry about the currency being different.

Paul the main concern here is voltage here we have 220-240 AC.
I do not know the type of plug you use in SA but as soon as you arrive you can go to stores like Carrefour, Lulu Hypermarket, Giant Stores end there you can find plug converters to fit the ac plug available here.
If you make it to a Hotel you can ask the concierge service to provide you with one of these converters.
But if your devices or appliances do not use 220-240 or are not capable of using this AC voltage then yopu will have to buy an AC converter to make 220-240 into 110. These also available in big stores.
Best of luck...and welcome
