Need a tutor? Modaris.me connects students to tutors through innovative platform
Modaris.me is an education platform that connects students to tutors for one-on-one support, and may just be one of the fastest ways to connect to a good private tutor in Qatar right now. ‘Modaris’ is an Arabic word that means ‘teacher’.
At QITCOM 2017, Modaris.me was named the most innovative startup of the year. Cofounded in 2015 by two young Yemenis, Yasmin Kassem and Haitham Al Haidari, it’s proven to be a great and unprecedented success.
There are currently 40 tutors working as part of the Modaris team. In a statement to The Peninsula, Yasmin elaborated: “Modaris.me offers a wide range of subjects starting from secondary school, University and Standardized tests.”
They offer help with English, Arabic and even French learning courses. 90% of their students happen to be Qatari, with all of the tutors based in Doha, many of whom have recently graduated from university. 40% of the tutors are female, which is helpful for young Qatari girls who prefer to be taught by other females.
The two young etrepreneurs are set to launch the Modaris app in July, further streamlining the process of finding a tutor. The app will be available to both Android and iOS users.
Thanks to QAR 125,000 of seed funding, and the two-year incubation support that has been received thanks to QITCOM, they intend to expand their database of around 200 collaborators in the Middle East.
