Distance learning University degrees ( IGNOU ) not accepted here!

This is to inform you that many companies in QATAR (specially Q-Companies) are not validating or recognizing the degrees from "IGNOU - Indira Gandhi National Open University" since it is a open university (distance learning). Whereas IGNOU off-campus is here in Doha-Qatar.

It seems even the ministry isn't recognizing the degrees obtained from distance learning or online degrees.

I am a live example for this as I am facing this problem! So my advice to everyone is to avoid taking degrees from OPEN universities or distance learning universities to secure your future.

Need public opinion on this matter.

WT, Wasta is fine, look at it from another angle ....... what is wrong if you know somebody has talent & you catch & bring her to your boss ................ ? .................. This is what our sponsors would love ......... Find & Fetch the smart minds ......... this is the first requirement to compete & progress and make profits in the world market.......... & get bonuses and increments ........... !

Fgn, If you are already working here then you should not worry about this issue, you work with sincerity ...... be loyal ...... respect your boss ........ love your juniors ........ you will rise much more than the degree holders .............

I know people here who are not even 12th pass and working in these so called 'Q" companies. As wildturkey said "vasta" over here can take you to any level. and it is sad to say people having degree form recognized university are still searching for good job and end up joining companies at low salaries. Oh! yes even nationality matters a lot.

The problem is that almost all jobs of note require a degree as does family status .. So, people try and gain false degrees to play the system

Well, "Wasta" is also another word for 'abuse'!

The problem is that they notice abuse , so the best option for them is to ban everything

They (the Q companies) need another 50 years to adapt to the technologies of the 21st century. Give them time, they are stupid!!

@BRITEXPAT:

Yes, I totally agree with the fact that not all distance learning universities are bad. I went to IGNOU Off-campus here in DOHA & attending evening classes. Since the University name has “OPEN” in it, is creating a big problem & hence my Q-company isn’t accepting this degree or any degree from distance learning uni’s (that’s if they find out it’s a DLU).

The exams are also conducted under the supervision of invigilators from the embassy and higher officials!

Still of no use :P

Not all distance learning universities are bad - however, the method leaves it open to abuse.

I know one person who gained a distance learning degree , where most of his online course was taken was someone else.
