As part of our QL Foodie Month, we feature some popular food joints that are high on taste and easy on the wallet
Open 5:30 AM - 1 AM daily
Al Ghanim
This is our go-to place for kababs now. Their lamb chops are the best we’ve had so far. Our verdict is that it’s way better than what the high-end restaurants are serving (if well-done is the standard) because of all the extra spices they use.
The only downside is that they operate in two locations and the competition for seating is quite high. Their rates are super reasonable, with kofta at QAR4, chicken wings and drumsticks at QAR15, 4x lamb chops at QAR15, with the succulent taste they boast of - not a bad deal at all.
Open 11:30 AM - 12 Midnight daily
Al Aziziyah
Fans of Arabian cuisine will love this fast food joint. Their portions are generous and for a meal of two people it costs QAR12 to QAR19.
Open 6 AM to 2 AM daily
Old airport area
Get an authentic taste of Turkey at affordable rates at this restaurant.Their shawarmas cost QAR7, biryani is for QAR8, and their main dishes are generous servings for two for up to QAR25. Our vote lies heavily with their traditional sheesh tawook and shawarma, their barbecue is juicy and grilled to perfection.
Open 24/7
Old Airport area
Bombay chowpatty is perfect for chaat lovers. Try the desi spicy/crunchy delight at only QAR8.
Open 24 hours
Old Airport area
Tea Time is our favorite hangout for any sandwiches/juices/milkshake occasion. Check out their elaborate menu, their burgers start from QAR10 to QAR12 for combos. Enjoy their sandwiches for up to QAR5 to QAR10. They serve beverages, as they modestly state, but the beverage menu is anything but modest. From fresh juices to smoothies to Redbull with fruits, it has it all.
Open 7 AM - 10:30 PM daily
Al Ghanim
This bakery has everything that Pakistanis miss and crave about authentic Pakistani bakeries/snacks.
Priced conveniently for its snacks and breakfast value, our personal favorite is its samosa chaat, samosas, syrupy jalebis and halwa puri breakfast.
Open 11:30 AM - 12 Midnight daily
Al Aziziyah
Famous for its delectable shawarma, Chicken’s House is a go-to place for a taste of Arabic grill. We tried the celebrated shawarma and it became an instant hit!
Fereej Bin Mahmoud
The Kings Café is a popular place to hang out with friends, with delicious sandwiches at QAR4 to QAR7. Don’t forget to try their signature Kings Juicy sandwich for QAR5 with milkshakes and cocktails. A memorable combo indeed.

Fereej Bin Mahmoud
Lovers of Lebanese food will be delighted by their gastronomical experience at Beirut Restaurant. The best hummus in town is found here, at QAR9. You have to try it to believe it.
Open 11 AM - 12 Midnight daily
Fereej Bin Mahmoud
Al Manara restaurant is a barbecue haven with its tantalizing Chicken Tikka, Malai Kabab, and other delicious combos at very decent prices.

Famous for its Arabic grills and snacks, this is a favorite go-to for a quick bite or a fulfilling meal. For those with a penchant for falafel, must try Petra falafels, you won’t be disappointed.

Al Nasr
Sandwiches, hummus, falafel and shawarma are all hands down our favorite selections from this neat place. We loved their scrumptious sandwiches priced from just QAR5 to QAR15, and shawarma for QAR10. Their cold starters are highly recommended. As the name suggests, it is ideal for takeaway or home delivery.
Open 11 AM to 3 PM, 5 PM to 12 Midnight daily
Al Mansoura
How can we not mention this bundle of delicious joy that reminds us of home cooked comfort food? For Pakistani/Indian palate, this place serves just the right desi taste we crave. Their daily specials are delicious packages from QAR11 to QAR16 per item. Or you can mix and match from their mutton, chicken, barbecue, vegetable dishes. They also have a Chinese selection. After a lovely meal the proverbial cherry on the top is practically the sweet and savory Special Peshawari Kahwa (aromatic green tea).
Open 12 Noon to 3 PM, 6 PM to 12 Midnight
Friday 1 PM to 4 PM, 6 PM to 12 Midnight
Al Aziziyah
This newly opened restaurant has each dish created with the recipes of chef Zakir, a famous culinary expert and celebrity in Pakistan.
Their Chicken Tikka Boti (boneless) and Kasturi kababs were morsels of pleasure at each mouthful. They offer take away and delivery only for the time being.

Mesaimeer
We tried Gourmet restaurant upon friends' recommendation and were pleased with the breakfast. We devoured a full breakfast of Lahori Channay, Punjabi Paratha, halwapuri, and karak, for four people all under QAR50. They serve lunch and barbecue menus as well which we will surely return to sample.
Tried most of these restaurants! you can add one more to the list - Bawarchi restaurant at Barwa Village. They serve very tasty biryanis and Haleem(Indian version of Harees) at very cheap and affordable rates.
@saem93: That's great.. Why not share your experience of eating at these places - Which is the best in your opinion
I have tried everything other than the gourmet, need to give it a shot.
