Fine Italian Cuisine at Warwick’s Carisma
Warwick Hotel’s Carisma is tucked into the right hand corner of its satisfyingly symmetrical ground floor, with warm inviting lighting, rose-coloured walls and a cozy ambience that transports you into a mood for enjoyment. Since enjoyment and good Italian food are almost synonymous in our dictionary, we had a fulfilling night in this quaint little restaurant.
We were informed by Marco, Warwick’s ever so gracious general manager, that the restaurant was displaying a new set menu each week, with a different region of Italy being explored through food as a theme. With a full three course meal at QR90, this is definitely a value for money pick, with a full hotel dining experience to boot.
This snug little establishment happens to have a new chef, and Soner Kesgin — with his extensive international experience — takes a pride in his culinary creations that is quite literally tangible. You can try them out at Warwick’s L’Auberge and Moon Deck restaurants as well.
QL’s Picks
Try the appetizing burrata, an Italian cheese that is essentially a layer of mozzarella encasing soft, oozing cream cheese. A large dollop of this over a bed of chopped tomato and onion is a worthy starter to a hearty meal.
The Fettuccine Carisma, a signature dish, possesses the perfect balance and blend of texture and flavor, with spinach, mushroom and chicken in a creamy sauce that hits the spot. The pasta is freshly made in-house, and cooked to just the right degree of pleasing.
The ricotta and spinach homemade ravioli, flavoured with butter, sage and cherry tomato, was a definitive favourite of ours. If ravioli could be described as breathtaking, this would be just that, with the perfect consistency of soft cheese and pasta.
We loved the Pizza Carisma for its crispy freshness. The quality of ingredients is unimpeachable, with sour dough for the crust prepared over a three-day period, topped with buffalo mozzarella cheese, chicken strips, spinach and a dash of truffle oil.
QL’s Highly Recommended
The tiramisu at Carisma is the best we have tasted in Doha. Without exaggeration, in complete and utter honesty, from the heart (or the stomach), we recommend this dessert! With fresh mascarpone cream and the perfect dash of coffee soaked into the base of this mouthwatering dessert, you’ll be dreaming about it for weeks.
