Which one is recommended? Intel Core 2 Quad, or AMD Phenon X4 with same GHz

Hi there. I was about to build my own PC, and am trying to get it to a very decent standard.

So which one is recommended, the Intel Core 2 Quad, or the AMD Phenom X4, both are Quad Cores, and assume they both are at default clocking of 2.66GHz.

And i don't care much of the public, to the people with IT knowledge, they know that Intel is only a tiny bit more famous brand, but AMD doesn't suck. They both are the same, it's only that the dumb (no offense) just run after Intel. So please no answers of 'Intel is famous etc.'

Just want to know which i should pick, since a lot of Gamers recommend AMD, but the public demands Intel :S

And opinions on the Price, Specs and Efficiency are welcome, and if someone could also tell me the prices of them both that would be great.

And if you know the prices of all of these or any then please state them, i would be greatly thankful to you.
Processor, Motherboard that supports your 'better' processor, a cool case 'I am 14 so i'd like a "Cool" type of case whether it is with a Power Supply or not, and a 500GB HDD.
