I have tried and tried to watch Big Brother online using Channel 4 on demand but the programme freezes as it streams and takes a minute between each streaming session.Can anyone help me?

It has to download (just an example) 1% and then play that 1%, while it is playing that 1%, it has to download the "next 1%". Now if you finish watching your 1% before it finishes downloading the "next 1%", then the video pauses until the "next 1%" is downloaded and the cycle continues.
If you are using your VPN to stream/download - drop it, it just worsens things - large overhead.
The best thing to do would be while streaming, let it start and after a few seconds hit the pause button, and go complete some chores. Get back after about 30 minutes and the whole video clip would have buffered.
