Hello! I am bit worry about my computer usage particularly in hard drive (C drive). I've noticed on my computer storage data the constant increase despite the fact I don't download anything from the internet just merely browsing or surfing. Yesterday it was 26.5 GB free space and now to find out I have only 20 GB remaining. Please anyone out there help me. Does this mean I will have to buy secondary storage (external hard drive). My laptop is 6 months old.

Thanks in advance...

Its Common problem with Vista. i heard the same problem from many users.

you can do few things.

1) remove the temp files.

2) use CCClener.

3) check for System Restore files. they make up a big amount.

4) If you are not very much aware of the computer, then seek someone's help who know about system and temp files and hidden files.

hope it will help.

Jonald I do not have D: drive but Data (E) I guess its like E: drive. So can I just trasfer some of my file in E:drive. What is this E;drive for? I know this is partition adn I just check its seems to me it pretty much unused or unfilled. Is this safe?

yes it should be your music files. dont you have another partition like D: drive? if you do move it to the D: drive. Use C: drive only for installing programs, D: drive for your files like music vids. Another option is to purchase external hard disk and move all the files to the external hard disk. :) hope this help

I think you are right Jailbroken! Everytime I use my laptop especially when I just log in there is this Updates always pops up in my taskbar..So what I am doing is I update it and have it installed to my laptop. coz i just thought I need to do it for better performance on my computer. There is this one also about Java Update..Shall I just ignore all this and cancell them?I am confussssseeedd!

I don't think that it is because of virus as I have installed anti-virus Norton on my computer. I have some music vids downloaded from RealPlayer, you think that maybe the reason? shall I delete those? just about 5 or 6 videos and not movies.

Well i think it is because of the automatic update done by Vista. When a new update for the system files are available, it automatically downloads this files to your computer. Maybe that's the cause of your depleting drive space. Try and uninstall any non-important programs to save disk space.

it's a virus infection.

Try scan with trojan remover.

Do you have any torrent connections?

Yes! I am using Windows Vista. I just did that cleaning disk, cache , temporary file even defragged my laptop yesterday. Ironically it went down to 20GB instead to increase my free space.

I am sure you are using windows vista. There is a software called CCCleaner, install that & run it. You will be surprized to see howmuch space it will make for you by cleaning your C drive. Also run disk clean up from system tools
