hello all..
i bought this HP laptop Pavilion DV5 1299ee..
i want to downgrade from Vista Home Premium to XP Pro..
but i'm afraid that i can't find some drivers..
like the Finger Print Recognition, the Webcam, the Blutooth or the HP remote ..
can u please tell me from personal experience if it is possible to find those drivers and softwares for XP..
HP said, that they don't have official drivers for XP, and if i want drivers i should look in each device's company website. and they do not have any support for those...

HP didn't manufacture all the components in their laptop same as any other brand of computer. The drivers for each component can usually be downloaded from their manufacturer's website. Before starting to reformat your laptop, it is recommended that you acquire a list of all 3rd party components of the laptop. Search and download each component's driver. Store the drivers in a CD or DVD. Backup your personal files. And, when you have everything, start your downgrade.

The component list usually comes with your laptop's documentation or can be acquired from HP website. 3rd party manufacturers can provide you with the latest drivers for their products.

Hi,

I have the same problem ,so finally i decide to wait a few more months for the new windows 7 to come out ...its supposed to be much better than the vista operating system.. and upgrade instead of downgrading as soon micosoft will stop the support for XP.

If you're going to reformat your laptop back-up first all the drivers definitely it will be needed when you re-install your hardwares. Why not make a dual bootable OS (XP & Vista) if you really want to go XP this link might help you: http://helpdesk.its.uiowa.edu/window...s/reformat.htm

Yes you can format your system and can install XP but First find the drivers for xp because hp is providing drivers for vista only if you request online ww.hp.com they will send you all the drivers for XP

personal expereince is with dell laptop... the support never assists and I had to finally give up using the devices i could not find drivers for... would suggest downgrade only if u manage to find all the drivers or if u are willing to let go of the devices that u cant find drivers for....
