Crunch draws huge crowd in National Sports Day celebration
Towards instilling a fitness and sports culture in Qatari youth, Crunch Doha, Qatar’s first fitness transformation club, celebrated the Qatar National Sports Day (NSD) with a sporting games galore, in partnership with the German Business Council, Health & Life magazine and Qatar Airways. The events drew a huge crowd as participants engaged in a number of activities on a quest to win prizes while learning to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.
Commenting on the company’s NSD activities, Nuwaid Pocker, CEO and Co-Founder of Crunch Doha, said:
“Although Crunch Doha promotes a healthy lifestyle through actively engaging in sports and fitness activities day in and day out, National Sports Day is a great opportunity for us to bring people together in a fun, yet rewarding series of sports activities and health-oriented events as well as remind them of the long-term impact that an active lifestyle has on the Qatari community as a whole, towards realizing the Qatar National Vision 2030 through the wellbeing and health of a society that can actively lead on and drive change.”
As a part of its NSD celebration, Crunch Doha sponsored the German business council’s third football tournament at Al Sadd Sports Club, where 10 teams from different local and German companies competed against one another in a series of friendly matches.
On the sidelines of the tournament, participants challenged their fitness and physical abilities through a number of live exercises including pushups, Kettlebell swings, skips and deadlifts. Moreover, kids and their parents tested their coordination and partnership skills in several ways, such as by identifying carbs, proteins and fibers on a tray of goodies, organizing mixed color balls in single colour baskets and balancing on one foot for two minutes. An Instagram Photo Booth was another great way for kids and families to capture those special moments.
Crunch Doha was also invited by Health & Life magazine to participate in the Qatar Airways’ NSD staff event, where multiple activities and competition were held. In one of the contests, people had to do maximum number of bicep curls and deadlifts in 30 seconds in order to walk away with a Crunch t-shirt.
During the event, Minister of Transport and Communication HE Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Qatar Airways CEO Mr. Akbar Al Baker visited Crunch Doha’s corner and participated in the sports activities.
To further encourage kids and parents to embark on a journey to health and wellness, Crunch Doha is currently running a drawing competition, where kids have to draw their favorite sporting activity, which is then posted on the company’s Instagram account. The drawing with the biggest number of ‘likes’ will win a bicycle, while the runner up gets a free scooter.
As for the adults’ competition, participants need to write down their own fitness oath and photograph themselves with it. Similarly, the oath will go on instagram and the photograph that garners the most ‘likes’ will win an iPad. The deadline for both competitions is February the 21st.
