Al Meera Consumer Goods Company Opens its Al Wakra 2 Branch
Making it the 44th addition to the supermarket chain

Doha, Qatar – August 2015:In line withits slogan, “Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer”, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) announces the opening of its newest branch in Al Wakra, marking the 44th addition to the successful supermarket chain. The new branch adheres to international standards of construction and décor to provide customers with a convenient shopping experience.
The 2470 sqm Al Wakra 2 branch constitutes 1926 sqm of supermarket area. The store offers shoppers a wide variety of food and non-food related items as well as fresh products. The branch includes a butchery, fishery, delicatessen, fruits and vegetables area and bakery to answer to the consumers’ various daily needs at very competitive prices. The branch will feature an array of shops and restaurants that are set to open soon.
The new branch boasts state-of-the-art elements similar to all its other new outlets, from the high-tech lighting to the storage techniques and technologies. The branch’s world-class shelves highly reflect the company’s keenness to offer the best products display to its customers; good-looking and well-spaced shelves allow customers to shop their items efficiently.
Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al MeeraConsumer Goods Company, inaugurated the opening ceremony in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sulaiti; Board Member, Mr. Saeed M. Al-Nabet; Administration Affairs Manager and Mr. Khalid Al Jassim; Safety and Security manager, along with other head of directorates.
For this occasion, Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera, said:
The opening of the Al Wakra 2 branch comes as a result of the massive growth witnessed by Al Wakra, whose rise in residents required a second branch to meet their needs.”
He added: “Al Meera continuously seeks to support the Qatar National Vision 2030 in its plan to develop all areas of the nation. We are very pleased to be serving yet another segment of the Qatari community and look forward to the opening of our upcoming branches.”
Indicative of its expansion plan to serve all areas in Qatar, since the beginning of 2105, Al Meera has opened seven stores in Muaither, Al Azizia, Muraikh, the Gulf Mall, Thakhira, Jeryan Njeima and Al Wakra 2.
In addition, Al Meera is set to launch three more branches this year in Al Thumama, Al Wajba and Rawdat Ekdeem. The aforementioned stores will be opening their doors weeks apart, one following the next, after obtaining the necessary approvals and licenses from the relevant authorities. This comes as part of the company's plan to open 14 (additional) shopping centers, making it a network of 56 branches throughout the State of Qatar.
Within the framework of its future projects, Al Meera plans to establish two additional branches, characterized by a unique design in Al-Jamiliyah and Al Shamal. In parallel, Al Meera continues to rehabilitate its old branches to integrate them with the new innovative concept, which is designed by international companies to meet the Qatari market requirements.
Al Meera also received a number of awards during 2015, including receiving an Award of excellence for Health and Safety in the Retail Industry for 2014 from the Qatar University. Qatar Chamber handed Al Meera an award of excellence for Food Safety 2015 during an inauguration ceremony for the “Qatar’s Achievements in Work Safety” book.
The company also received the ISO 9001:2008 certification, for the activities of the commercial department, from Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS – UK Branch.
