QF and TED to host latest TEDinArabic regional event in Jordan
The groundbreaking TEDinArabic initiative, which was launched by Qatar Foundation and TED to inspire and amplify ideas in the Arabic language on a global scale, will host its second regional event, focusing on how human, technological, and natural potential can be harnessed to address the world's challenges.
Three top TED speakers will share their thoughts with a global audience in Arabic at the event, which can also be viewed online, on Saturday, June 4 in Amman, Jordan. Al Hussein Technical University is hosting the event, which seeks to examine how people might use information, imagination, and creation to provide the solutions humanity seeks.
Unlocking Potential, Elevating Stories' is the second regional TEDinArabic event since the initiative began in 2020, thanks to Qatar Foundation (QF) and TED's common belief in the power of ideas. TEDinArabic is TED's first endeavor in the Arabic language, with approximately two million visits to its website and over 16 million impressions across its social media sources.
Emtithal 'Emi' Mahmoud, who devotes her time to spreading understanding of causes such as refugees and disadvantaged communities through poetry and advocacy; Amir Nizar Zuabi, founding artistic director of the Shiber Hur Theater Company and an alumnus of the Sundance Institute Theater Program; and Sheikha Al Jassasi, the first visually impaired Omani woman to earn a Master of Business Administration from Bedfordshire University, and whose love of learning saw her surpass all expectations – including her own.
A series of regional TEDinArabic events will culminate in a flagship event in Doha in March 2023, bringing the TED conference experience to the Middle East and North Africa. 16 Arabic speakers will be chosen to present TED Talks at this flagship event after a TEDinArabic ideas hunt across the Arabic-speaking world. These speakers will submit the most inventive and inspiring ideas in the Arabic language.

Since the three-year partnership between QF and TED – which reflects QF’s commitment to preserving and promoting the Arabic language nationally, regionally, and globally – began, a customized digital destination has been created to act as TEDinArabic’s content library, housing blogs, TED-Ed video lessons, customized videos, and other content in the Arabic language. This will remain accessible to the world once the partnership ends.
