Qatar Museums introduce limited-edition Culture Pass with Tamim al Majd icon

Qatar Museums (QM) has announced that it will offer a limited-edition Culture Pass portraying the iconic ‘Tamim al majd’ image to members of the community interested in signing up to its popular cultural engagement programme.

The programme was also recently restructured to include four new membership packages, designed to offer members a variety of discounts and various access to QM institutions. 

The extremely limited run of 500 specially-designed ‘Tamim al majd’ branded Culture Passes will be available at the Qatar Museums gift shop at the Museum of Islamic Art and the Doha Fire Station from Sunday, 16 July, 2017 until supplies last.

‘Tamim al majd’ was first created by contemporary Qatari artist Ahmed Bin Majed Al Maadheed, who recently hosted a pop-up exhibition of his artworks at the Doha Fire Station.

The portrait, widely recognised by its title ‘Tamim al majd’, which translates to ‘Tamim the glorious’, recently went viral on social media and has coated the nation’s cars and buildings in support of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Under the visionary guidance of its chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Culture Pass programme offers almost 16,000 members unique access to diverse cultural activities across Qatar.

Members receive a vast range of benefits from QM and its partners, including access to workshops that develop creative skills and explore exhibition-related themes.

The Culture Pass Programme has recently been restructured to include four tiers, three of which are paid for and one of which remains free to the public.

The new tiers include: 'Culture Pass’, ‘Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Plus Family’, ‘Culture Pass Academic’, and ‘Culture Pass Creative’.

The addition of the new tiers allows everyone to enjoy QM and its offerings in a way that best meets their needs and interests, offering different access and discounts that are designed to suit specific audience groups from families to the academic community.

For example, the Culture Pass Plus allows families of four to attend exhibition VIP openings, get access to the members lounge, organise private gallery tours and attend the unique night at the museum series.

The new tiers are an extension of QM's efforts to offer valuable and relevant experiences to all members of the community. Those that are already members can also upgrade their package to any of the new tiers.

The price and benefits breakdown of the different tiers includes:

• Culture pass [free]
• Culture pass plus [400 for a yearly membership]
• Culture Pass for a family of four [1400 for a yearly membership]
• Culture pass academic [200QR for a yearly membership with valid student or teacher ID]
• Culture pass creative [400 QAR for yearly membership and 300 with valid student ID]

The programme is aligned with Qatar Museums’ vision of enriching the lives of all those who live in and visit Qatar, as well as inspiring an indigenous culture of creativity and innovation.
