Qatar Living presents Photography Workshop by Richard Bentley
Qatar Living in association with renowned photographer Richard Bentley will be hosting a very special community photography workshop at the Radisson Blu Doha on Thursday, 31st January 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
The workshop stands to benefit amateur photographers who are looking to boost their basic knowledge of photography. Semi-pro/professional photographers may not learn anything new from this workshop.
Richard Bentley is a British photographer & filmmaker. He was born in Nottingham, England and has worked in over 45 countries in the media industry.
He has worked with global brands, shooting time-lapse sequences for Burberry and recently had a solo ‘Desert Rose’ photography exhibition in Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar.
He worked for the BBC as a news director and field producer. He also worked as a video journalist and has trained over 3,000 journalists, video editors and camera operators to shoot & edit their own stories.
He has a passion for sharing knowledge and teaching. This workshop is sponsored by Fuji Film Qatar and the venue is sponsored by Radisson Blu Doha.
The 2 hour session will be featuring:
- Richard Bentley's journey into the photography world
- Which camera to choose and the difference between mirrorless and DSLRs
- Different kinds of photography interests
- Mobile phone photography
- Basics of composition/framing
- Moving to manual (M) mode from automatic (A) and the creative freedom this brings
- The ‘exposure triangle’ (ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture)
- Working in camera RAW and the difference between a JPEG file and a RAW file
- Working with available light and using flash
- Software required and basic workflow for processing camera RAW images
- Using a mobile phone to shoot photos - which phone is best?
- Apps to manipulate photos taken with a phone
- Sizing and framing picture for social media, particularly for Instagram
- Organizing yourself and backing up your images - at home or in the cloud
All the participants of the workshop are also invited to join us for a Photo Walk on Friday, 1st February 2019, where they can participate in the competition and showcase their freshly learned skills in order to win Fuji Film products.
Participants are required to have their own camera (DSLR recommended).
