Four Qatari artists to display their artworks at National Museum
Four of the country’s most brilliant artists have worked on bespoke artworks for the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), announced Qatar Museums (QM) recently.
The creative works will be put on display inside the new museum under an initiative of QM known as the Public Art Programme.
It has been reported by CNN that the Museum is expected to open on March 28,2019 and will offer an impeccable experience to visitors with exhibits covering the country's rich history, its present-day accomplishments and its magnificent offerings in the future.
This effort supports the NMoQ’s ambition to relate the country’s rich history and culture through the creative lens of local artists. The artworks will provide a look into the past, present and future through an immersive, multilayered experience, according to the Gulf Times
The Museum’s galleries and public spaces offer an insight into a plethora of personal histories and interpretations of Qatari identity. These commissioned artworks will add to that aura by offering unique perspectives on national traditions and the lives of Qatari people.

The four Qatari artists who were selected for their artistic vision to design site-specific pieces include: Aisha Nasser Al-Sowaidi, Ali Hassan, Bouthayna Al Muftah, and Sheikh Hassan Bin Mohamed Al Thani, reported The Peninsula.
“It is important to us to use the opening of the new National Museum, which embodies our heritage and gives voice to our aspirations, to showcase the work of our local artists, Director NMoQ, HE Sheikha Amna Bint Abdulaziz Al Thani said.
Adding that, “Each of the extraordinary creations [by the four artists] is a unique and moving contribution to the breathtaking experience that the museum offers.”
Welcoming visitors to the Museum is a wall installation by Ali Hassan, titled Wisdom of a Nation that carries the image of the Qatari flag accompanied by a poem by the founder of modern-day Qatar, Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Al Thani.
Prior to the entrance of the permanent galleries is a great sculpture known as Motherland created by Sheikh Hassan. The artwork highlights the connection between the land, motherhood and national identity.
Al Sowaidi’s, Central Midhkan, which incorporates the idea of a traditional and local ritual and modernizes it as a global concept for home systems, is displayed within the Museum’s VIP Lounge.
While Al-Muftah, one of Qatar’s most popular emerging artists, called on the heritage of Qatari jewellery to create her installation, Kan Ya Ma Kaan, which is located in the cafe named after the work, Cafe 875.
A number of international artists have also been commissioned to develop site-specific works for the NMoQ.
