Hello Everyone

I am leaving for Kuwait next week for a month. Just wanted to know as to what I can do for entertainment there.

Tell me about the places to visit.

Looking forward for your replies :)

Cheers !!!

Parties in Kuwait you need to find through the local population, just make loads of friends, and you will get there. Just make sure you have a clear profile of who your friends should be.

I think they work best when both people are willing to be flexible; don't place value judgments on the other culture in thinking their culture is superior; embrace the differences; and don't try to bend the other to their will. Unfortunately some cultures simply DO NOT accept the validity of other cultures/religions, and in those cases they feel they MUST prevail over the other. "Live and let live" is the antithesis of some cultures.

Ah PM....

I did have quite some contact with Kuwaiti's, but these were the liberal ones, loads of Al Sabbah.

Personally I have seen in 6 years in the ME that a marriage between a 'locals' and 'westerners' thus mostly western females, becomes a living hell for the female. If anything, I have become against any western female marrying Arabs. Not because I have anything against Muslims or Arabs, but simply because of the immensely huge gap between cultures. It just does not mix and match.

People are going to defend themselves now, saying "I am" or "I know", exceptions there always are,

i married into a Kuwaiti family and was expected to become an Arab. All that lovely beach and corniche, and I wasn't allowed to go walking on it, much less swimming (even in my "Muslim" swimsuit).

I've lived and worked in Kuwait and Dubai (besides here). I 'second' what hotboss and britexpat says.

If I absolutely had to...I would go back. I have the best memories of the middle east in that place...

PM - In Kuwait I had the wildest parties, the best adventures and a heavily occupied agenda.

But I guess being a female is a bit more difficult there.

I know some people smuggle it and make home brew, but you won't find bars or alcohol in the hotels.

You guys surprise me that you liked Kuwait. I find it the worst place in the Gulf and thank God I will never have to return there! :-)

Sorry Baldrick, I did read your post too quickly...

Kuwait, I actually would return if I needed to do so. I had a great time there.

(and 4 girl friends at the same time 2 (Kuwaiti/Indian) in Kuwait, 1 (Leb) in Lebanon and one in NL (NL), unfortunately I have grown up so can only have 2 now)

Go on a free day to

- El Khiran Resort (faheel expressway, direction Saudi)

- Paintball (near towers)

- Marina Mall (eat at The One, very lovely)

- Sea Shell Resort Julai'a (faheel expressway towards Saudi)

- Kuwait Tower - no fun, not even cute.

- Find out which parties are at Embassies or at Hotels - western party means - BOOZE!!

I would explain you how to make wine, but since you'r there only for one month, no use. Have fun!

NOT same-same Doha. No alcohol = no bars, no clubs, no party. home brew if you have time to make it (which you won't). kuwait used to have a buzzing party scene around 15 years ago but these days expats just visit each other.
