Hira: There are just two ways to my knowledge through which you could get a permanent visa. Either a person finds employment here at some company and the company then processes the work visa and gets the RP of the employee, or one is under the sponsorship of one's father or a husband. I do not know i there isf any other way. Frankly, staying here without a job is very taxing both on the pocket and on the mind, and leads to frustrations. This becomes all the more true, if a person is unable to find employment for several months at a stretch. There is tough competition in the job market and getting a job may not be that easy, especially if a person does not have the backing of several years of experience in his field of work. Even if he does have the qualification and the experience required for a particular job vacancy and proves to be the best candidate for the job, other factors come into play that bars him from getting employed and one of them is "nationality." If you just go through the jobs section at QL regularly, you will soon realize that there is one particular lot of people here who want to employ people only from their country and they state this clearly while advertising vacancies. This a ground reality here and whether one likes it or not, one has to live with it.
