Villa Fines?

Hi,

I just have a little question about our villa. We went to our Landlords office and talked to the Operations Manager and he said I have to pay over 30,000QAR in fines for breaking the contract early (less then 4 months since moved in). He will be keeping the deposit and 2 months rent. On the other hand, I was talking to my friend (which is a Minister in Foreign Affairs and owns a real estate company), He said that you don't need to pay anything and that its going to be a rip off.

Is that true? Do I have to pay over 30k just for breaking the contract? Please give me quick answer.

Thanks,
Ahmed

First of all you should get a signed copy of the one month notice you already gave. Otherwise you can't later prove that you did give the notice.

If you already have it, don't worry.

But did you read the other articles in the contract too? I have seen a signed contract saying that termination notice is 3 months but you still have to pay at least 3 months or all remaining months whichever is higher. I of course didn't check the law if such clauses are possible, but you should fully understand what you have signed.

If the contract really says 1 month notice and nothing more, than get your notice paper signed and don't worry. Even if they cash your cheques, you can sue them and get everything back.

Give them the 1 month notice. pay for that period and maybe let your friend enjoy free 1 month stay there. After 1 month your friend can collect the deposit and wire to your account.

Our contract says 1 month notice, that all. My RP is not going to be canceled because I have some things I got to finish as far as work. We have gave him a 1 month notice, tried to find a renter. So same question? I was talking to this lady in my Bank, and she said you don't have to pay just like my buddy.

I need some advice otherwise, how would it feel to lose 9000USD?

Need some advice, Thanks

It depends. Are you leaving the country and your rp will be cancelled? If so you should get all your money back

Our contract specifically states we have to give 2 months notice to move out before the end of the contract.
