The only qualified wildlife vets in the country with the right medications are Dr Abu Baker at the Zoo and Dr Sven at Al Wabra.
I know when we rescued a hamadryas baboon at QAWS Dr Sven had to test her for diseases such as Tuberculosis, HIV and Hepatitis before we could send her to the UK to a primate sanctuary. She was the friendliest little girl you could imagine but she would still bite when she was angry and it HURT! A lot!! And she only had her baby teeth!
sharifa - what type of monkey is it and how old is it? Have you had experience with primates before?
no the monkey is not sick, but i need a vet that can check on him every now and then, is it okay if i take him to the zoo or their only for emergencies?
Monkeys are not pet animals so the vets will not treat them. The only qualified vets that can treat monkeys are the Zoo Vet (who is off until Sunday morning) and Dr Sven at Al Wabra who will only treat the monkey if it is signed over to their preservation. He will not treat pet monkeys.
There might be other vets that claim they can treat monkeys but they do not have the right experience or medications and generally the animal is not treated the right way.
If the monkey is really sick then the only way to get urgent treatment is to sign it over to either Dr Sven or QAWS who will then take it to Al Wabra.

Any vet claiming to be able to provide medical care for a primate is probably lying, and not worth going to.
And I doubt that vets would have medication, vaccinations etc for monkeys lying on the shelf.
You'll probably need to take it back to wherever you acquired it in order for it to get it proper care.
Only emergencies.
The vets don't encourage exotic animals as pets as they are rarely looked after properly and normally imported illegally.
