2 things you should never do drunk:

1. DRIVE

2. Type on QL!

Sorry to hear that....

BUT, why did you wait for the police??? You knew that you are intoxicated and it will and badly. You should negotiate with the driver of other car and offer him money as much as he want's it, to avoid all this above.

However, wish you all the best and next time think twice before stepping forward.

hey, do not ask ur company 4 help! remember u r in this alone. companies wouldn't like to b associated with "drunk" employees. even if they help u, u r sure to b deported then!

I am wondering, do they check alcohol level in your blood after each accident?? How the hell someone can know that you are drunk, unless you are falling down or cannot put clear two words together... If you were in such condition, nothing good can come out of it...

i hope they took a blood test on you after the incident...this would merit the extent of how drunk you are or would reflect the verdict they would impose on you.hope all will be well...and check with your company as to how they can help regarding this matter.

well expect the worse.. i know a non-muslim.. who was caught drunk driving, no accident. Paid fine and was released and then after a year MOI called and case filed. He went home for vacations, came back and was not allowed entry. happened in the end of 2010. .. fingers crossed then..

Simple lesson to be learnt from this - over here you can't even have one drink and drive.

If the Police smell alcohol on you - you are in big trouble.

Cabs are so cheap over here - don't take the risk.

OK, Let me tell you my experience, I was drunk and got with an accident, this happened in December 2010, I was jailed for 1 month, and had to pay 3000 as fine and 5000 for the municipality damage, I hit my car at a turn on the barricade. The deportation happens if you hit a vehicle and if someone is injured, that's what I got to know when I was in Jail.

Normally the court will amend a 3 months jail term along with fine, once in the jail, you can appeal for pardon and if accepted by the court they pardon the 3 months to 1 month, this is what happened in my case.

As you are out and not in lockup, I feel they gonna amend a heavy fine, say 10,000 or above with a month's imprisonment.

I would suggest, get a lawyer, they charge you anything between 3000 to 5000 but then its worth it, though a months imprisonment is must the lawyer can get the appeal on less days or decrease in fine amount.

On the court hearing be present in formal and decent looks, a shabby look with casual attitude could put you in trouble.

MY FRIEND SORRY TO TELL YOU BUT YOU HAVE A BIG CHANCE TO BE DEPORTED A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ABOUT HIS FRIEND CASE WHICH IS SIMILAR WITH YOU.HE WAS DRIVING AND GOT AN ACCIDENT IN THE ROAD. HE WAS JAILED FOR 1 DAY PAY A 2000 FINE AND A COURT CASE.AFTER A HEARING .THEY HAVE DECIDED FOR A DEPORTATION .WHICH WAS A VERY FAST DECISION. HE NEEDS TO PAY THE FINE ALSO. I AM NOT PRETTY SURE ABOUT THE AMOUNT BUT IT IS QUITE BIG.

HOPEFULLY IT WILL NOT HAPPEN TO YOU.

Well I wish I could be as optimistic as sambs but I am afraid it is not elementary school here, the sponsor can go up to cancel your visa.

Don't take it lightly and make sure it ends there.

Cheers (if u still can)

you will not get deported. Just say that you're sorry and that you won't do it again. They will just inform you to pay a fine. Be careful next time and don't worry, relax. you'll be fine.If they would deport every drunk person here then Qatar will be empty :)

You won't get jail time, but you could face deportation. It will depend to some extent who your employment sponsor is. Speak with your HR department.

When you get drunk outside of your house its always adviseable to take a taxi home becoz if you get into a accident, whose ever fault it is you will be the one who will be held responsible for the incident arising from the lack of control by you on yourself and your vehicle.

I think you need to inform your sponsor and get some wasta if you can!

JPAO, one of my senior in previous office went through a similar situation. He spent just a month in jail and was'nt deported. I think the punishment is severe for muslims than non-muslims. He just went through the whole thing - they shaved his hair though. Sorry, can't help you with your query.

If somebody is injured by a drunk driver, he may be entitled to compensation. Settlements stemming from a drunk driving accident typically include coverage for medical treatment, lost wages, and emotional distress. Cases against the drunk driver often include punitive damages, which are meant to punish reckless drivers and discourage such conduct in the future.

If you are caught driving under the influence of alcohol

it goes from 10,000 QR to 50,000 QR plus 1 to 3 years prison and deportation!

If your careless driving resulted in an accident where some one is injured or died, then you pay blood money (200,000 QR)on top and finally deported with no chance of return...

Bye,bye Aussie!
