Toyota After Sale Service Advice

Hi everybody,

Am new to Doha (about 10 days) and was in the market for a car. I was inclined to some of the new Toyotas, but in talking to some friends, I'm hearing that the after sales service for Toyota is pretty bad. I hear simple things like oil and filter service and other regular maintenance can take a very long time at their service centers. Somebody even told me that they wanted to get a scratch fixed on the car body and the car was at the Toyota garage for a month!

Could the Toyota owners out there please confirm or deny these rumors and tell me howtheir experience has been with the Toyota service centers. How are the costs for regular maintenance?

How are Honda, Nissan and some of the other car companies in Doha?

Thanks in advance!

just buy a used car (any brand) and take it to any garage you know for service. at least you'll get to see that they're working on it.

do you really think those underpaid and overworked mechanics at authorized garages will do an honest job? ...you decide...

honda servicing is excellent, the industrial area centre is really good, they do understand problems in case you want the car early.

Seems like you have no idea what you are talking about. I do this stuff .... and I know exactly. Just try to sell a GMC Youkon and a Land Cruiser, both of same condition and same model, you will understand what I am talking about.

Dont compare their price, compare the percentage of loss you are making on both cars .... Toyota always gives lowest loss. And there is a reason behind this .... Toyota has proven itself as most reliable and most tough cars ... which is exactly what is needed in places like Qatar .... this temprature and this terrain and such roads ... only Toyota can take it !!! Other cars just give up !!!

German cars are best, but have less customers because they are expensive.

Then Toyota

Nissan follows, then Honday and then Mitsu etc

American Cars are just ok ... they sell just because of their features.

Yes, I have a 2008 Prado, I got it 0 meter and have taken it to Toyota servicing only once. There service is too pathetic and they charge too much !!!

I just go to a workshop in Gharafa ... he is experienced and is good enough to change OIL and OIL filter.

Trust me you need nothing else before 40K kms in a new car. Just regularly change oil and oil filter, check coolant level, battery water level and thats it.

After 40K, you may take it to Toyota if you want.

Workshop charges me only 20 Riyal for oil chnage, and oil + oil filter costs only 100 Riyal.

If I go to Toyota, they easily charge 500 + and do nothing extra.

grow exponentialy? r u alrdy made field survey ? i saw toyota cars for sale with inflated price posted (resale value huh?) in company public folder. in fact there was no body interested after 3mth, they reposted the adv. the fact final price jump downed much lower than the offering price. practicaly there wasn't any diference with other similar cars. resale value only stupid myth! ur repsl to change the unlogic stupid myth to reduce the number of victim candidates.

Hi Zorro,

When you will be selling your 2003 Accord in 24 - 26K and another person will be selling his 2003 Camry in 35 - 38K, then I will ask you how much it hurts !!!! And the difference grows exponentially on bigger cars .... specially in Land Cruiser and Honda MRV, or Nissan Armada for that matter ....

So yess ... resale does matter !!!!

toyota is not the only one, except you want to add more disapointed owner. check it in QL. or if the one of your hobby is to camping for nights at industrial area, maybe this is the best choise.

resale value resale value resale value again resale value... what the hell with this big myth?? you want to plan to sell your car before you purchase it? ride cammel is the best for doha if you think resale value. beleive me, the dealer at camel market.

In addition, i did one major repair and the name they put in their record is not my name and when i complain, they said no problem, maybe no problem for them but for the record, that is alot of difference. Compare to my other cars, only this company had taken alot of charges and changes just for 15thousand kilometers...

Canary is referring to my complain that i posted here.month ago. Since the beginning  of service for the first five thousand kilometers, you will be charged lessthan 400 riyals. The next 5k they will charge you lessthan 500 riyals. The next i was charged 1860 if i did not complain. And i found it that because i am a lady, they thought that i will just pay the amount without checking it. Specially the battery, i didn't agree to be changed, i told them that i rather bring it in the Industrial area to get a discount but still they changed it when i complain, they said the battery was already drained, but still i insisted to return the old battery and i was doubled charged for the labor maybe because i told them to return. And i don't trust them anymore because when they call to you to tell the consumable parts to be changed, of course in the phone specially you don't really know the name of the parts, i just asks them if it is necessary to change now and they said, yes. Even my window washer if i am correct, i already changed for the coming season, coz i know its rainy again, so i did it at the shop outside, then they told me they changed it and charged me 80 for it. Now i decided to just do the repair outside, not in the company, coz i think even when i tell them to check the water of the battery, they don't do it. I aid morethan 1200 after a long discussion with the manager but still i am not happy because, if i didn't insist my complain, if i just afford to pay it, then i was cheated according to their plan.

Toyota...hopless service....maybe because every 2nd car is a Toyota.

At Toyota You have to greese the palm of the mechanics to get your car out early.  Minimum is 1 month to repair anything even minor.

My neighbour had his side mirror cracked. It took 1 month for Toyota to change it. Dito for any minor accidents & touchup.

Honda does oil & filter change in 2 Hrs flat (if you take an appointment).  Without an appointment you will have to wait untill they have sufficient time to take in your vehicle or the mechanic is freee.

Moreover Mr. Parag (at Honda Quick Sevice, Al Mana Petrol Station) who is very friendly  lets you know if it would take another hour. There is also a very good Pinoy guy he too is friendly. While the Arab guy there (Egyptian I guess...may be wrong)  is only friendly with the women...lol.

One of our QL members had an unpleasant experience if I remember correctly with the service and exchange of spare parts and the battery. Best to talk to her. However, I am sure you will get many commments here.

I don't think that the Toyota dealer is the only one with slow service. I think slow service here is quite common at other dealers as well. I know people that have experienced the same with Honda and Nissan. Only the Kia dealer is able to do an oil change service in less than one day, from what I heard.
