There is no way to make a wrong thing right

Living in Qatar as an Ex pat we try to follow all the rules and regulations of the country . Well as you all know we all need help for example housekeepers/nanny .
I hired a Filipino to assist me. at the time of employment i told her that i would like to sponsor her so if it is possible she can ask her present sponsor to sign the release form so i can transfer her visa so this action can be right under the law of Qatar .
She told us yes , for the past 2 weeks her Sponsor has been demanding her to report to him . She ask for the transfer he told her give him 1yr She bought the visa for 8000.00QR.
The sponsor is holding her passport and she is so afraid of him. This is not right, i feel sad to know that people make money on these women .She told me that she has to follow him cause he can get her sent home for no reason .
I wanted to give this woman the chance to work with us under the law of Qatar, but was unable to do so thanks to a money Grabbing Sponsor. This is so wrong to extort money from the poor and this Sponsor has many homes and allot of money. So i will say there is no way to make the wrong thing right.

yes is is on the expensive side but it is the legal cause the housekeeper will be under the sponsorship of the agency

or the agency will bring a live for you at a cost .

but it is the right thing to do cause if you are caught you all be charged and the housemaid can face deportation.

So inshort, go for the legal ways to hire NANNIES or HOUSEMAIDS..Trust on some reliable agencies in DOHA which provides such services..

I know this and i insisted to her that i must become her sponsor cause i know it is wrong and we can be charged by the Qatarie government for this .

All i know is we tried with her to make it right and as a result of this she wants to do the wrong thing .

and i am not going to do the wrong thing to help her by keeping her in my house she had to go and she is gone i so wish her all the best and hope another ex pat like my self do not fall into the trap of a free visa holder.

trinigirl, you did the right thing. Employing person who is not under your sponsorship is illegal as well.

She left me i do not know his name all i know he live in Alcoah .and all she told me is she has a contract with her sponsor, she left yesterday she told me she would be back , she has not come back. so i will leave it alone .

But this is to say i do not like it in Qatar thus far cause i am trying to live by the law that govern the land and look their is a problem.

I hope it gets better for us in Qatar i am keeping and open mind. I do not know what to make out of this i have no help now thanks to a money grabbing man .and she has left me because i wanted to sponsor her and because of fare of this man.

It is better to leave it alone, though the sponsor is black mailing, which is morally wrong.

What does the contract states...

Thank you for the insight happy to know sometimes you leave things alone cause i am not a national. Only she can deal with her actions and as a result of this she has to say she will follow her Sponsor, cause she know the wrong she did . so even if i try to help her she got her visa illegal and i do not want to run into problems with immigration.

trinigirl, Free visa refers to the type where people pay money to get a working visa from a Qatari sponsor but need not work for the sponsor in mutual understanding. This is prohibited by law thus illegal but still in practice. If her sponsor reports her to police, she would be deported not because her sponsor is Qatari but because what she did was illegal. Sponsor is also at fault no doubt but there is nothing one can do.

He made her sign a contract , but i am not sure of how this works , and i am willing but do not want to get into any problems with the sponsor. and yes she called it a Free visa, I want to help my but do you all think is it worth it !i can think of how many persons live in fair of their sponsor . he is so rich he can pay her back . she is afraid of him, she said to me :"he can go to the CID with my passport and they will deport me cause he a Qatarie "

Actually she can report to police of this incident. Two things are likely to happen. Either he will give her release or pay back the 8000QR. I am 90% sure he wont give back the money coz he has already spent it so most likely she will get a release. She can do this if you support her

She bought a free visa which is illegal in itself.....she fell into this mess knowingly. She is as much at fault as her sponsor.
