Terminating Rental Contract
I am about to make the move back to my home country, but still have a year or so to go on my rental contract. There are no specified conditions regarding termination or notice periods in my contract except stating that Rent Law No. 2 of 1975 and amendments are applcable.
Can anyone tell me what the law says in relation to notice period to be given?
I am transferring back to my home country through work so my work contract and RP will be terminated accordingly.
kaned,
That’s fine and probably that will be the best way.
I was just wondering where did hms786002 get the information from.
hms786002,
Could you please let us know the law to back up your advice? Thanks.
I cant for the life of me find any electronic copies of the rental law - just extracts. The good part is that the contract is in the name of someone that is no longer a resident of qatar. The cheques are not registered with my bank account, with the rental money transferred to the ex-residents account each month so the cheques clear. In essence, I could up and leave but wanted to try and do the right thing...
kaned,
What hms786002 wrote is what we all hope to happen, but where is the hard evidence that this is actually the law?
In case that the landlord refuses to return the checks, what else can we do and based on which black and white published law?
Thanks so much - I cannot find any any any information regarding this anywhere on the net. Thanks for the info!
Kane
Show the RP cancellation, and termination of contract to the property owner, then your Rent agreement will automatically will cancel and accordingly you collect back your cheques.
