Salon Review

Hey, if you are looking for a salon that has western trained hair stylists, be careful when going to the Glow Salon in Doha. I have heard really good things about Hillary there, but I needed a hair color as well as a cut, so I booked an appointment with their color specialist. When I told her how I wanted my hair cut, she called in someone else to do the cut, maybe because I was being so specific, maybe because she didn't want to tackle my thick hair. Either way, I ended up with a totally new color and hair style, exactly NOT what I wanted. Now I have something that resembles a mullet and so many layers it takes three times as long to do my hair. It is a throw back to the 1970s. I'm sure that Niki and Linda thought they knew better with all their experience, training, and style expertise, but I really wanted a specific service and they didn't listen at all. When all was said and done it cost me about $165 (595QR) to get something I didn't ask for. I was told that the hair stylist would do a free consultation before she did any service. Well, the consultation consisted of Niki and Linda telling me what they were going to do. So, buyer beware. Glow Salon advertises itself as an upscale salon, but I only ended up paying upscale prices. I do have to say that the pedicure I got there was excellent and reasonably priced.

I had two extremely disappointing visits to this glow salon. The first one was two months ago in Salwa road branch. Monica was the stylist. She did highlitghts which burnt my hair and they became so yellow that i was ashamed to go to work! And she did a haircut which was against any rules of symmetry. I didnt complain that time because i saw fear in her eyes and silent begging for me to keep it quiet. I had to go abroad to fix the damage that she has done to my hair which cost me not only financially but more than that emotional stress! However due to not much choice in doha i decided to try another branch in lagoona. I had an appointment with Hayley. The lady was so arrogant that i had to leave to avoid expressing my anger. Poor education level of staff, disrespect to customer, arrogance! I dont think we should keep quiet about our bad experiences in any place in Doha be it a salon or any other facility. Not many people find time or courage to speak about this loudly. Thats why they keep those places functioning and continue to disappoint people who seek for service and ready to pay for it. Glow salon is complete disappointment and i hope you ladies are careful when choosing salon.

I've also had terrible experiences at Glow (a mullet-esque cut and orange, messy highlights). I wouldn't recommend Riviera Gardens either. Am on the look out for a new salon so any recommendations would be so welcome!

So Goldy, I'm sorry it is difficult for you to believe my review. I wasn't trashing the salon. If you remember, I did mention that I have heard Hilary is great at what she does. Yes, my experience might be rare, but it did happen. And yes, since you have been going there for ages, you are the expert by far. I can't believe you would think I am part of Glow's competition though! That is laughable. It makes me wonder if you are getting a kick back for your lengthy rebuttal to my review. If you are, good, because you will need it with their prices. Anyway, I'm so glad you are happy with the experiences you have had at Glow. I know many people who are, and I mentioned them in my review, just to remind you. I had a great experience with the pedicure I had there. I wish you all the best. In order to be a tried and true customer of Glow, though, you will need to book your next haircut with Linda and ask her for her mullet special. Good luck!

I'm sure since Glow opened up there has been a lot of resentment from the "competition". Those who work from home, those who already owned salons, etc. etc.

And usually, bad comments are made by jelouse others I think who want to take away the spot light? That's just my two cents.

Or maybe you really are just one out of many happy customers who had a experience that wasn't what you expected, and if so, sorry to hear that, hard to believe though.. who knows.

All I know is I want to give some credit where credit is due and usually it's the unhappy people who want to vent and trash companys when they feel they have been un-satisfied.

But, it's a bit rare to hear from the loads of happy customers. I'm one of them, so it would be unfair to Glow if I don't voice my opinion as well!! :-)

All I know is, ladies- you have to take what people who write a "review" like this with a grain of salt. I've been going to Glow for ages. I could visit any of the ladies who work there for my hair, and trust any of them to do my hair. I have confidence I wouldn't wind up with a mullet, haha! (That's why this review is a bit hard to believe, if you were to ask me.) They are pro's, through and through. I've been to Hilary, she's very good, but I have no problem going to Niki or any of the others there as well as I know they only hire the best. I have to write a defense for Glow against this review as I want others to hear the other side of the story- someone who is extremely happy with her hair and services!!

They are even better than the salon I was going to back in Canada, that says a lot, as I really liked them!!

Now, I have to say it. I've been to other salons before finding Glow, and they were terrible. Again, my opinion is subjective, isn't it, as all opinions are.

Glow were the only ones who listened, who I felt genuinly cared, and give me exactly what I ask for, everytime.. and I have to say as far as price is concerned, they are more than others, cheaper than some, but you certainly get your moneys worth. I've been going for ages, have sent in friends and my co-workers..even my boss! And everyone has always thanked me for my suggestion and have become loyal Glow fans as well. And I've sent in quite a few people who come up to me and ask who does my hair.

And as far as customer service? Organized & friendly!

So, really, this is just another "salon review" for you all to consider. :-)

Have a great day,

Goldy

George at the Ritz is awesome. He's super fast, so I wonder every time how he could possibly be doing a good job, but it always turns out great.

And that goes both for my straight, fine hair and my daughter's very thick curly hair.

Not cheap, but so worth it!

You had booked an appt with the salon or specified your interest to have it cut from this special lady ONLY????

If it is only with the salon, then it is their right to do what they did.

Not as good as it makes out to be is it? I too had the same problem, I've heard stories about their poor customer service and changing appointments at the last minute!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your "hair disaster." We've all been there. I like Cloud Nine on Lusail. Najat is very good and she really listens. She's quite gentle and conservative. Not cheap, but I would pay anything to avoid catastrophe.
