Salary Deduction

Hello everybody, I am just asking opinions regarding with this. Is there any rule that the company can deduct our salary from the cash allowance that they gave us during a certain technical training? The training was free except for plane tickets, no agreement before the flight regarding the cash allowance only then when we are back at Doha they sent us emails.

Couldn't explain this much, I am so screwed up by now. Please help me and my other colleague. Or should I refer this to Philippine Embassy or somewhere else?

Seems like you got some points but actually, this only happens to to me and my colleague. The other persons sent to training said they never have this kind of issue before. I never called up the German Company(why should I call if I only have 2 qr load), some of their service technicians heard me while I am having conversation on my phone with my company staff. The bills, we were not having any proper briefing with that, until we came back we knew the whole thing.

Alcoholic drinks were never mentioned on our drafted expenses, drinks instead. why should we let the company pay for alcoholic drinks when it was a treat by somebody?

Anyway, we know what really happens.

Don't worry, I am watching...

Kabayan, as example

What I understand is you were desperate to go like to Germany for Training….the Company decided to send you and paid all the expenses for Ticket, Training, Hotel and also gave you like 1,000.00 Euros for your daily expenses. While giving the money, you were told to bring the bills for your daily expenses as general company policy. On top of all that the German Company gave you like 500.00 Euro as pocket money for your expenses.

On your return when the company requested you to submit your bills for the expenses, you refused to do so saying that you do not have any bills. Ideally company should have asked you to return the entire 1000 Euros that was given for your expenses. However the Finance department agreed to accept handwritten bills signed by the department manager. When you submitted the bills, it was noticed that you included in your clarification very high cost for laundry, alcoholic drinks and many things which no companies will accept. Again the company gave you a second chance to submit a revised bill and you agreed to accept 500 Euros for your expenses and return the remaining 500 Euros. Even after following up several times, when you did not return the money, the company decided to deduct the amount from your salary. At this point you called up the German company and informed them about this internal matter, which is un acceptable. Still the company did not take any action and agreed to give you 650 Euros for your expenses (does not include the 500 Euro given by the German Company). So now you are supposed to return only 350 Euros to the company which have not done so far.

In view of the above, my question is where did the company treat you badly? Everyone in the company knows you actual expenses would be much lesser than what you are getting. The Money that you spend on drinks and shopping would not be paid by the company. So do not misguide the people on the forum by telling lies.

Be careful….. You are being watched.

I don't know why we have this very young boss. just 24 yrs old yet, huh! his behavior is really common that never tries to listen what is right rather than talking as much as what the words he heard from another idiots...

He never gave us the chance to talk and explain, he just rapped up then, close the session...damn! we are so mad, it's 100% unfair.

maxpain you really need to seek an experts advice. if you have friends who know lawyers that is the best bet. it is a company's obligation to educate their employees on the rules and regulations being implemented. it is dodgy that your company does not have any.

I don't really know what to do exactly, I ask for a hard copy of the "NEW RULE" that they keep on telling us, but then nothing appears. they keep on calling, sending messages to deduct it from our salary. It's a Technical training which is a requirement from German company for our company, we were then just sent there and when we're back to doha, they to claim the allowance that they gave us. So frustrating, 3000 Qr monthly salary minus the 5000 Qr training allowance...

Check the Company rule in this issue. If your daily allowance is Qr. 750 and you spent Qr. 1000 per day the Company will deduct the difference from your salary.

Hello Kabayan, like in any other Philippine embassies, they will be of little help to us OFW's on this regard. What you can probably do is look into your company's policies. Surely there are rules and regulation pamphlets available to employees. This is the first time I have heard of such a case and I don't believe it is in the Labour Law. If the deduction was excessive and you would like to complain, it is better to go to the Labour Department with your contracts.
