Request to lower the rent

By biggs16921 •
I came to know that my neighbor who just moved in has a lower rent than what I am paying for. Do you think it would matter that I am leasing my flat for four years, then I can ask my landlord to lower the rent? Or should I start looking for a new place? I hate moving and I am happy with the location of my flat. Need some advice....
Yes, you are right...no harm in trying to ask for a lowere rent. Or would it be okay to have it cancelled and make a new contract under my name? coz the flat is originally named under my old flatmate.
It better to look for new one..
your contract is for four as you said?
if you already paid ( check ) and agreement. then I think you can not do anything, some landlord are really nice people and you cna request maybe it will work
Every time new person comes definitely they will be paying less and person staying for couple of years pay more as Land Lords give at lower or current prevailing market rates for new, they suck from the old tenents
askin doesnt create ne problem i think
You should read your contract first. And check out the articles about termination of contract, rights and obligations etc. This might give you a basic idea about what options you have.
Afterwards you can openly talk to your landlord and see what happens.
Note: I have seen contracts where you are obliged to pay the full rent for the full contract period even though you inform them 3 months before the termination.
