Rent agreement

Hi I would like to ask for advice. I recently move to this apartment with 2 rooms that was rent out by an Qatari guy. But he does he did not give me any rent agreement and now his asking for a 1 month deposit. I've been here for a month now and last month I pay cash but he did not give me a receipt only his driver is coming to take the rent? What should I do. To make my stay legally in this apartment.
The person you are dealing with is one with a doubtful character. He will create much problems for you in the future. A simple example of that is his unwillingness to give you a receipt for your payment. After several months have passed, he may demand payment for all the months you have been at his apartment. You will simply have no proof of payment you have made. I hope you understand "the game."
My suggestion is that you get out of this place asap but do it very quietly. When you take the next apartment on rent, make sure you take the contract first before you move in.
You will need to ask for a contract signed by both parties (you and the landlord). If the contract states a deposit, then you should give a 1-month deposit.
Also, it's your right to ask for a receipt after every payment. So step 1 is to get a contract signed and then get a receipt for every payment you make.
