CUSTOMER WARNING: Qtel has issued an alert after its customers were targeted by a fake lottery scam. (Getty Images)Qtel on Tuesday warned its customers about a fake lottery scam, where fraudsters try to convince people to purchase and send the details of prepaid Hala scratch cards on the pretext that they have won a major prize.
The fraud operates by contacting customers, either by phone or by SMS, to tell them they have won the grand prize in a major draw, and that – after providing “verification details” – they will be eligible to collect the prize.

for these kind of scams ... but this one asking to send the Hala Cards details is new ...
I still remember my poor friend when he got that fake lottery message and he was like shaking of excitement because it was saying you won 900,000 Pounds !!!!

i too got such text msgs many times but i went to the Option in my mbl, selected Delete and deleted.....:)

First of all, as a customer of Q-hell i was not notified about any such thing! Second of all YEAH RIGHT how dumb can people get, purchase scratch cards worth 500 and give "them" the nos lol. Guess some people are so gullible.
PS: TCOM i forgot to mention, the raffle draw ticket u kept with me finally won a toaster, you will however need to give me the scratch card no. of 50 riyals hala, just so i can verify that you are TCOM, else i'm keeping it!
