Qatarisation at Mowasalat -- How Possible?
The following "news" appeared in the Gulf Times of 17/3/10. How many of you think Mowasalat will succeed in Qatarising the majority of its employees who are drivers for taxis, limos and buses? How many Qataris will like to work as a driver for Mowasalar or Karwa? Make a guess or let's hear your comments.

On another side, Karwa announced some 45 new vacancies, of which 15 are for senior posts.
Karwa is participating for the second year in QCF, under the slogan “Steer to the right career” and is seeking to employ national skills.
The company is also offering online recruitment services to attract the largest number of young Qataris.
Having been through expansion on all levels, Karwa is aiming at attracting qualified Qataris. Its Qatarisation rate has reached 16%, including 58% in senior management.
This year, Mowasalat is expanding the Free Shuttle Service, whereas a team is assisting the QCF organisers in transporting students at Education City universities to the fair’s venue and back.
Karwa’s recruitment director Mohamed al-Hajri encouraged young Qataris to have more confidence in the private sector.
“The experience they can acquire in the private sector is rich and intensified”, he stated.
Mowasalat, which has been named the QCF’s official transporter, also silver sponsor, has set up a special email address to receive applications “[email protected]”.
Qatarisation should also include non-senior employees if you really want to achieve reasonable success regarding Qatarisation. Or else Mowasalat may just dream on ..... The philosophy of Qatarization is to develop Nationals who will be able to competently fulfill the roles and responsibilities assigned to them in their target positions. In the case of Mowasalat, the management should seek all options to develop Nationals where there is a willingness and desire on their part to work hard and show loyalty towards the organization. There were a few Qatari drivers previously but they left the profession due to low wages or lack of desire (I guess so).
and not enough employees...I mean those who really work...
obviously the jobs are office based and management positions - but then again there is nothing wrong with a qatari being a taxi driver, go to any other arab country and take a look - I bet some qataris would love to be taxi drivers.
Secondly, don't you think one third (15 out of 45) SENIOR management positions is just a wee bit top heavy? Too many chiefs and not enough indians (and NO!, not south Asians!)
"Deaths in the Bible. God - 2,270,365
not including the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the
many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers
were given. Satan - 10."
Where did you read in the announcement that they wanted Qatari drivers?? I assume they mean Qatari managers, secretaries, supervisors, data entry, ...
Anyway the non-qataris there are making a mess of things. At least Qataris can stop the rot.
They didn't say that they will hire Qataris for drivers. It's clearly stated in the news that senior positions are for QUALIFIED QATARIS.
(*sigh)...READ AND UNDERSTAND! :P
