Qatar has the worlds highest per capita income according to the CIA fact book but alas they think that by only supporting the locals they can increase their development and regard the efforts of the expat community as waste but they will surely learn their lesson one day, when the expatriates abandon Qatar due to the economic crisis and various other factors.

We are dreaming to build metropolition aristocratic modale that the poor will also be paid a good salary to cope up with the situation you are facing, but first we have to increase all to demand the next to pay for it., so the process is steadily going on and towering is being taking place that you can visualize from the cornich. So your roll is to always demand high salary, while improving the skill to move to suitable job better than the present one and life to modify to the stanadard of 2009 instead of the previous years 2000 and all that.

It is we, to fluctuate the way the circumstances permits to manage the situation by steadily working on it. Else leave the place or find the location where there is cheap life and substandard life style. ball is in your court.

I agree with jonboy about the taxi thing. MOst families here even have more than 1 car. As for Qatar it's the second richest country as per GDP (Gross Domestic Product), hope i'm right with the meaning.

the reason the taxi fare is so high is based upon supply and demand. Most people have their own transport. To keep a fleet of taxis running costs a fare bit. If there are not sufficient customers, the few that are there, pay more.

as for the rich country question. Qatar is the 4th richest country in the world per population.

I guess they are providing everything to their own citizens. It's not their duty to think about the wealth of other nations.

So qataris are lucky from this aspect, the country really provides them everything.

And who said a rich country should be cheap? :)
