Pregnant and Need Urgent Advice!

One of my friends is in a very difficult situation and she needs some advice urgently! She is from the Philippines and is working in the hospitality industry (restaurants). She has fallen pregnant and now her company says she must go home and pay for her own ticket there!

Now she is worried since she can't afford the ticket. What are her rights since she is married but is listed as single under her Qatar visa. Her husband is in the country under a different sponsor and they don't live together. She has her marriage certificate to prove they are married.

Should she go to her sponsor and tell him she is pregnant but it was her husband? Or should she obey her manager and just go home early back to Philippines (and somehow find the money for a ticket)? Shouldn't the company be required to pay for the ticker under Qatari law?

Finally, will the Philippines embassy be able to help?

Why not try to update perosnal information to Qatar Immigration? i think it only requires an attested Marriage Certificate by the embassy... if its a legal marriage... otherwise no choice but to leave Qatar... for baby and mother's safety...

She was married in the Philippines but came to Doha to work. Her husband came to Qatar separately under a different sponsor. The only thing wrong she has done is that her visa says "single".

I suggest you go there for you to know... coz you will never know unless you go there.

Go directly to POLO the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and seek for their advice. I've been there before and it seems they give good advices.

Good luck... tell your friend to pray that God will give her and her hubby the best decision... remember, going home is never a bad option but at the right time...

I have the telephone number of POLO but its better to go there than just seek an advice over the phone.

exactly louet, just get ticket and go home. if she fight for her rights the stress will do harm to the baby. why not find loving and peacefull place like family at home when you need it specially now that you are pregnant. go home dear... and my pray goes to you.

she better go home before it appears, and come back later, as long as the manager will still be willing to take her or, if she can get an NOC to find other job after giving birth. Getting pregnat is planning in the first place specially that you are single in the contract. The Manager is kind that she advises you to go or else put to jail and deported. Be aware that deport and letting go home is different from each other. Think twice before she complain, if it is just a matter of ticket, produce one from husbands pocket than make a dramatic complain which is obvious that being single in the contract and get pregnant is not excusable.

Did your friend inform her boss when she got married or it was SM? She can explain to her boss with the marriage cert. that she is pregnant. She should ask her husband to explain both to her employer. Philippine Embassy cannot help with this problem. Even her husband is in diff. employer she can give birth her and the baby could be on the father's sponsorship. In that case if both of them will beg on your friend's employer maybe they could let the couple stay together. Tsk tsk they should inform them properly since she is now pregnant.

why she is asked to go home? why, is it stated in her contract that she must not get pregnant while working here? or because her status here is single?...why did she not update her records in the first place before getting pregnant....

the rules here honey is that if you are single you cannot pregnant..else you will be deported....

but since you are saying she is married...hmmmm, as i said why she did not update her records here? sorry for the questions...
