A positive experience ....
For those of you who have a positive experience with a live-in nanny/maid, could you please share with me the agency you used?
Also, if you knew then what you know now, what would be the top 10 most important questions to ask (or qualities to look for) when interviewing prospects?
This is totally new for me, so I would appreciate any advice on how to have a positive experience with a live-in.
Many thanks.
I hope so Jokky
I just heard some stories about maids scared me to death
Treat them well and you can expect them to be more then nice to you. They come here to work and to do a honest job living their family and kids behind back home and making life difficult and stressful for you or themselves is the last thing on their mind.
Yes, frenchieman is absolutely right.
Most of the agencies is just making money, they will just promised you the whole world. That's it.
word-of-mouth or by referral from a friend is better.
Thank you very much frenchieman
Actually I agree with you..the idea of having a housemaid from agency is scary because I don't know her
and the Agencies always tell you that they don't know her either so it is a matter of luck
I hope that I can find a good one
My advice for the best experience is NOT to go through an agency. They are, understandably, businesses whose primary objective is to make money, not happy matches. The best nannies and maids are found by word-of-mouth--families leaving the country and looking to find good places for their maids. Advertising at your children's school, place of work and amongst friends is the best approach. It may take longer, but you'll be happier with the result.
Once you have a good maid, treat her well. My kind are often accused of "spoiling" our maids by over compensating them and treating them as equals, but I have to say I never worry about leaving my vulnerable children alone with her as I know that she is happy and unresentful towards my family.
