Please help! Does anyone have a problem with mould, and do you know anyone here that can treat it?

Penicillium mould is what I think we have. It's not bad, at least from what I can see, but our pediatrician has expressed concern due to the fact that our daughter suffers from asthma.

Our roof leaked during the rains a few months back, and although the leak has been repaired we noticed that the corniches in one of the rooms has mould growing on it. It seems to have halted since the leak was fixed, but now because summer has approached and the AC's are on, the humidity has gone down, and the lack of humidity means that spores will be released into the air.

My daughter is having real problems; and we need to find a solution.

Does anyone here have any advice, or know of anyone that deals with killing moulds here?????

Moonbeam, humidity, I'm sure you know, will encourage the spores to grow even more.

There are A/C maintenance companies that will flush out ducts if you have a central air conditioning system.

Also, I used to see a product at the Family Food Center in the cleaning section (where they have Harpic, Windex, etc) made by a German company I believe. The packaging isn't attractive but they have products that clean grout and other things.

You know what it's like here, with the house contracts. They are not easy to get out of. So moving at the moment is not really an option; but it may well come to that if I can't get this resolved.

I have been doing quite a bit of reading, as this is a huge problem in the US. I actually knew someone who came close to death thanks to mould toxins. She recovered luckily.

I don't have a huge problem, just a few spots on the cornice, but I don't know what I can't see. I am wondering if I have to tear off the cornice and check under it.

Please do let me know if you come across someone that can treat the problem. I will continue my search too, and post an update it I get one.

Cheers again.

Well, I have faced this problem when I was in Palestine. I was advised at the time to spray it with clorine, then wipe it off. I found this to be only temporary since the molds re-surfaced back in a few days! And it is true that you should be concerned for your daughter.

***The biggest risk in life, is not taking one!***
